Sounds like Compatibility Mode may help.
To configure the compatibility mode for an application, just locate
the installation directory and right click on the .exe, selecting
Properties from the menu.
Select the Compatibility tab:
You can choose to run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode, or even all the way back to Windows 95 compatibility.
Probably the most useful setting to start off with would be to
disable the visual themes and desktop composition, if you can't get
things working. If you are trying to run a video game, you will often
need to choose "Run this program as an administrator". You'll have to
play around with it, but most likely you can get your application
working this way.
Good Luck

Hi. I wish you had read some of the virus solutions here. I like my own best, but there are many others that are very good. You may not have had this problem now.
Anyway.. I found this online http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/Compare.asp I linked to their comparison page where they compare features, to the FTM also.. Just click on the Home link for more.
I could not find any info on importing from other Databases from a quick look around.. Sorry I don't know if it can do that, though I should think it very likely. You will need to do more reseach for that info, maybe send them an email.
Before you even connect to your back up drive, you must install a good antivirus on your PC, then run a scan on the backup drive (choose repair, not delete) or you may end up re-infecting yourself.
