My Blu-ray (DMP-BD30) Disc Player Purchase 1. Ordered Panasonic Blu-ray Disc Player (DMP-BD30K) from Circuit City on 5/20/08. Order #442100810185. 2. Shipped from San Leandro CA on 5/20/08 and delivered to me in Seattle via FedEx 5/22/08. Tracking # 44875312108624. 3. Received Model “DMP-BD30” Serial # “VA8DQ030423” on 5/22/08. 4. Connected the DMP-BD30K Blue-ray Disc Player to my Samsung HDTV via HDMI cable on 5/23/08. 5. Checked for installed firmware (Menu-Display-Status). Indicated latest firmware “8.1”. 6. Attempted to play two different NTSC Region 1 DVD Videos, Result: “No Disc” message. These videos were not damaged, dirty, inserted upside down, etc. 7. Attempted to play Blu-ray disc, “Over America”, also not damaged, dirty or inserted upside down. Result: Player indicated “Reading”, and made some clicking sounds. TV screen had message, “Cannot read, please check disk” and then the player indicated “No disk” and “Stop”. 8. Internet information reveals that other consumers have had a similar problem with this model of Panasonic Blu-ray Disc Player. 9. This particular player cannot read the discs that it was designed to play. Summary: I paid $544.99 (product tax) for a fully functional Blu-ray Disc Player from Panasonic based on a reputation for quality products and my past experience with your brand. A defective product was sold and shipped to me. Conclusion: I now own a stylish black box with a blue light bearing the “Panasonic” brand name that does not perform as advertised. I am not requesting service or repair for a new, but defective, product. Please ship me a fully functional Blu-ray Disk Player (DMP-BD30) and I will gladly return the defective model (described above) originally shipped to me by your agent Circuit City.

Upgrade BD30 wi-fi

To upgrade the firmware you will need to download the newest firmware from this site: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/bd/download/bd30/index.html and burn it onto a cd. If you can't or don't want to burn the cd it looks like they will can send a copy of it to you.

Dmp bd30 will not play normal. It will only play regular DVDs.

Unfortunately the problem is in the laser pickup assembly, the Blu-Ray DVD requires a higher velocity and precision to play this type of disc and is the first to fail. The only solution is to replace the DVD Player rather than have it repaired, far cheaper in the long run.

No disc

Hello,

has it been reading discs previously? If it has been reading discs previously, then it means the lens (laser) of your player is weak and that's why it cannot read disc.

You need to change the lens for it to be able to read disc again.

Good luck.
