Pinnacle Systems Studio V8.8 QS

When attempting to capture video from Panasonic video camera NV-GS4 the following message appears.
Pinnacle Studio SE cannot initialize the DV capture device.
I have tried reinstalling both the Pinnacle disc & the Panasonic USB Driver disc to no avail. I have had this problem in the past and got round it but it is so long since I used this system I can't remember the solution.
Can you help?

Go into menu and look for AV/DV out, and turn on. this should be under menu under camera or video settings. I assume your output from your camera has not been established. I have to establish mine with my camcorder. hope this helps.

Pinnacle Systems movie box USB users manual. How can I get one?

I think you have to install the "Pinnacle Studio" Video Editing Software BEFORE you attach the USB Cable to the Pinnacle MovieBox. After the Studio software is installed on your PC, your PC should automatically recognize the MovieBox. You shouldn't really need a Manual for the MovieBox, it should just be a "Plug and Play" device once you install Studio. The MovieBox just translates the Analog Video signal (like the Output from a VCR- the yellow red and white cables) to a Digital signal into your PC via a USB Input. At that point on the Studio software, the "Capture" tab should recognize the signal from your "Source" (VCR, Videocamera, etc.) Then you can edit your captured video. If your PC still doesn't "see" the Moviebox, there is a dropdown box in the "Capture" settings with selections for "Capture Device". It may have a couple of choices besides "Pinnacle MovieBox" such as a "webcam" or some other video capture device. Just select the "Moviebox". The one other problem you may encounter is that some older versions of "Pinnacle Studio" don't work on Windows 10. If so, your only easy option may be to try it on an old Windows XP machine. I like the older versions of "Studio" more than the newer versions, so I still use an old off-line XP computer. Hope that works.

Voices and image are not in concordance

Make sure there are no memory resident programs running in your computer. If your hard drive is fragmented, this will happen as well. You can defragment your hard drive by moving the mouse over it in my computer. Selecting properties with the right mouse button. Select tools. Select fragmentation. Follow instructions on the screen.

If you are using Pinnacle products for capturing video to hard drive. They recommend that you use a secondary hard drive to capture to and not use the C drive so that the C drive can be used for tempory file creation during the conversion process to DVD or any other video file fomat. Having the file on the C drive can cause this to happen as well because it is reading and writing too many files on the same drive at the same time.

If you are using Pinnacle hardware to capture with or USB or Firewire with Pinnacle products, you should be using the PCI performance enhancer under the tools in Studio.
