Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

If the dryer doesn't heat, the igniter might be burned out. Check the igniter for continuity with an ohm meter. Dryer igniters burn out over time.
Gas dryers have a flame sensor to detect the heat given off by the flame. If the dryer doesn't heat, the flame sensor might be defective. Check the flame sensor for continuity. This is not as common as a burned out igniter or thermal fuse.
If the above check out OK, check the high level thermostat, although not common, if the dryer doesn't heat, the high limit thermostat can be defective. It can be checked for continuity. If the thermostat is "open circuit" the dryer doesn't heat.

Dryer blows cold air only. Check air flow sensor and full flow on bars. Turned breaker off for 10 seconds no help. No other problems. It's probably the heating element and or the thermostat regulator...

LG Dryer not heating at all. DLG4802W gas dryer. Already replaced two thermostats Thermostat 6931EL3003C and Thermostat Assembly 6931EL3004B and still not heating. Only 18 months old.

Check your igniter, if that does not get hot enough it will not open the gas valve. If it does not glow at all check for voltage if voltage is present 120vdc replace igniter.

Gas dryer heats at first then take forever to dry, auto dry setting does not advance

If it works to begin with and fails afterwards then that can only be them solenoids mounted on the gas assembly. Here is my home video which shows how to check and replace:

I have a LG DLG5932 with no heat. I've taken the front cover off the unit as well as the blower cover. I've removed a lot of link from the blower unit. I also have pressed what appears to be a reset switch...

you may have a defective gas valve. there are 2 coils; one for 1st stage ignition; and, then the other 2nd stage coil takes over. ohm out your coils. there is also a flame detector that is attached to the flame tube body; could be bad? or, the thermostats themselves may need to be replaced.. always replace both the main and the safety reset t-stats together...

Hi.

If it is turning but not heating, check the thermal fuse if present. The fuse is also tested checking continuity. If the fuse is OK, check the thermostats in the heater assembly. If the thermostats are good, they will read zero or very low impedance at room temp.Depending on the model there are two or three thermostat/thermistors in the appliance.
If even thermostats are OK, check heating element. It must have continuity.
If element is OK, check wiring, then fan, then go for the timer control.

Assuming it is tumbling, check out the heater element. This is the most common problem for this type of dryer.

Maytag Gas Dryer SDG515DAWW - heating stopped

The heat is regulated with a Klixon mounted next to the blower housing near the vent pipe so it can judge the temperature of the air coming out of the drum.Right next to it is a melting type fuse. If the dryer runs and gets too hot the fuse will melt.But the dryer will still run. So if the fuse is good(continuity) and the dryer control(cycle) thermostat is also good then you should have power going to the gas valve assembly when the machine is running unless the timer is in the no heat or wrinkle free/cool down mode. When the gas valve assembly is energized the flame sensor

flame sensor mounted outside the burner chamber detects the heat from the ignitor. When the heat is very intense then the sensor shuts down the igniter

Igniter and that frees up the power so that the coils can be fully energised and open the gas gates. The gas comes out and hits the red hot igniter and you have ignition. It stays on for maybe 2 or 3 minutes or until the control thermostat is satisfied and shuts down power to the gas valve assembly.

hi thanks for the question i would also check the thermal fuse when you purchase the hi limit thermostat also purchase the fuse a lot of dirt in venting will cause the thermal fuse to fail the appliance doc
