You will find the correct battery type at shaveroutlet.com. See link below. You will need two batteries.

I suggest that you read the installation tip on the item page as well.

Also, does the green charging indicator light still illuminate when you plug the shaver in to charge? If it no longer lights, don't waste your time with the batteries because your have waited too long to change them and the circuit board is now damaged. Unfortunately, circuit boards for model 6550 are no longer available from Braun

SOURCE: Braun battery replacement

Unfortunately this is almost impossible. The batteries are part of the circuit board, and Braun only authorize their service agents to replace the whole unit, and my local agent found that it had been discontinued. If you still want to have a go, two screws are hidden beneath the two grey plastic caps either side of the charging socket on the underside of the shaver which can be prized off quite easily. Once you have removed the screws, the small plastic section comes off. Now you can slide the outer casing off. A thin black cover at the back can then be unclipped, revealing the circuit board and batteries. The whole unit simply lifts out and would be easy to replace if you could find one! Rplacing the batteries would be far more difficult and risky. Good luck.

My shaving machine BRAUN when i plug in not workig and is not charging as well

Sounds like the batteries need to be changed. You will find compatible batteries at shaveroutlet.com. See link below. You will need two

To open shaver, remove the two round screw covers on the bottom by prying them out. Remove screws underneath. Slide outer case off the bottom. You may need to reposition the lock to get it all the way off. Inside, you will need to unsnap and remove the black cover to access the batteries. For easier replacement, it is suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs
If you are not able to repair the shaver yourself, shaveroutlet.com can do it for you. See link below

My braun 6550 model was recharged but no display seen any more. The shaver has been used for more than 7-8 years. But this time I use it when it is low battery & charging at the same time. I try to...

This shaver model was very popular back in the 1990's. They aren't meant to last more than 10 years with regular use. They can be reconditioned, as replacement parts are available, but it's probably not worth the trouble. You've put your shaver to good use--it's time for a new one. You can offer up your shaver on eBay for parts as-is and actually make a little $$ (some people can make use of the parts, for those who repair these things). I'd recommend getting an 8000 series model. They are very well made and still quite a lot cheaper than the 9000 (Pulsonic) series.

How to apply appliance oil on braun shaver model 6550

First, make sure that it is shaver oil. Or Braun appliance oil. Other oils may be too heavy and gum up the shaver. Apply one drop ro each side of the shaver foil periodically. If you need Braun shaver oil. it can be found at shaveroutlet.com

I want to replace the braun 6550 with the same shaver, but i cant find anyone who sells them so what is the replacement shaver

shaveroutlet.com may have a PCB that could work in your 6550 model but from what I discovered it is not the same as the one you currently have. It will make the razor function but the LCD will not be available to show battery life. you will have a red and a green light only. If you can live with this than I would suggest contacting shaveroutlet.com. I have the same problem as I have a model 6550 and I have been looking for a replacement PCB ..Printed Circuit Board but have been unable to find one. Call Brian at shaveroutlet.com. I plan on contacting him next week ...Feb 7, 2013 with same problem

Change battry

I don't believe that the cell unit can be changed. It is rechargeable, so if it is not recharging it is probably kaput or your cord needs to be replaced. I looked through all the replacement parts for your shaver and there is no battery available. Here is an address where you can find a place to have it service if you want to or at least speak to someone regarding the shaver.
