and click [Request License].
4. Your K9 Web Protection license will be emailed to you

there are two methods you can try.
Method 1
If you have the administrator account password for the local computer and the best way to uninstall K9 web filter from the local computer is to re-install it! Re-install k9 web protection will simply get you a new license code and a new password you can enter without the need of old password.
1.Open K9 web protection website
2.Click "get K9 NOW" tab on the top-left
3.Fill out the information and your email.
4.Download the K9 Web protection software from the link included in the email and keep a copy of the license.
5.Grab a version of the K9 web protection installed on your computer, a Google search should do the job.
6.Open "Task Manager" by press (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and end the process K9filter found in the "Process" tab.
7.Now, you can safely delete the K9 web protection program files. Open computer explorer and go to the folder where K9 is originally installed. It can be found mostly at C:\Program Files/Blue Coat k9 Web Protection.
8.Remove the contents of the folder but not the folder.
9.Run the K9 web protection setup/installer file which has the same version as the one you just delete
10.Provide the license and create your new password
11.Point the installation folder to the same folder you just empty the contents earlier on
12.Now you can have a re-installed K9 web protection with a password you know.
How do you uninstall K9 web protection now? Use the new password you just created
If something goes wrong, install the K9 web protection program downloaded from Step 4.
Method 2
Reboot Windows into safe mode: restart your computer and hold "F8? key until you see the menu to choose "Safe Mode"
Login to windows and go to "Program Files" directory and delete the K9 folder manually (delete only the contents but leave the folder)
Click "Start"->"Run" and type "msconfig"
Check the tab "Services" and tab "Startup"
Un-check anything that is related to k9
If somehow this method is messed up, try to download K9 again to at least restore your previous installation.
If this still does not work, try to install Revo Uninstaller.
Here is a video tutorial
Click Control Panel. If you can't see this option, it may be under "Settings"
Click Add or Remove Programs
Find Blue Coat K9 Web Protection in the list of programs and click it once.
Click the Change/Remove button.
Click Yes when you are asked whether you want to completely remove K9. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UNINSTALL WITHOUT A PASSWORD. By design, K9 will block all Internet access should one attempt to uninstall without using a password. Attempts to modify K9 at a registry level will have the same effect.
Enter your K9 administration password and click Uninstall. If you forgot your password, click the "Forgot Password..." link to have a temporary password emailed to you.
When asked whether to reboot your computer, click Yes
Please follow the instructions below to uninstall K9 Web Protection. Make sure you are connected to the internet before uninstalling K9 so your license can be released. If this is not possible, you can continue to uninstall, but you will need to request a new K9 license if you want to reinstall K9 in the future.
Click Start
Click Control Panel. If you can't see this option, it may be under "Settings"

After rebooting, K9 will be completely uninstalled.
You can find many solutions over the net but dont try it else the internet will be blocked.. just ask for a new password and they will mail you... You need to click on forgot password.
If you uninstalled it, but pieces of it are still there, you need to edit the registry to get rid of it. I don't recommend this unless you are an experienced technical level user. You may want to find someone to connect remotely to your machine and fix it. This site doesn't put up emails anywhere, but my address is my user name at MSN, and others. You can try to contact me if you don't get a better answer.
Well have you installed K9 or your parents? :D.
If they did I m sorry to say that its better for your own good ha ha.
If not you can configure it to allow myspace and twitter.
But still I will not tell you how to bypass since I don't know whether you are a kid.
If you have not already logged in, enter your administrator password at the
prompt and click OK.
From the Setup menu, click Web Categories to Block. By unticking the tick for social networking (if it is ticked) you will be allowed to access any social network. Save the configurations.
Click URL key words
Check whether those URLs have been blocked (full url and / or by words.
You can clear the saved settings by allowing them.
There is another way of unblocking the site.
To override a blocked Web site:
1. On the Category Blocked page, choose an option under Allow This Site.
The following figure shows an example.
2. From the Allow access to list, click one of the following options:
• for 5 minutes to allow temporary access to this site for the next five
minutes.
• for 15 minutes to allow temporary access to this site for the next 15
minutes.
• for 30 minutes to allow temporary access to this site for the next 30
minutes.
• for 60 minutes to allow temporary access to this site for the next 60
minutes.
• permanently to always allow access to this site.
If you choose this option, one of the following happens:
• If the Web site was blocked because of its category, the Web site is placed in the always allow list
• If the Web site was blocked because it was in the always block list,
the Web site is removed from the always block list.
3. Click Allow This Site.
4. You are required to enter your K9 Web Protection administrator password
to confirm the action.
This is how the "Block access by time of the day" works.
K9 Web Protection enables you to restrict the time of day users can access Web
sites. If there are specific times when you do or do not want your family accessing
the Web, this feature assists you in enforcing that policy.
To restrict Web browsing access times:
1. Start K9 Web Protection
2. From the top menu bar, click Setup.
3. If you have not already logged in, enter your administrator password at the
prompt and click OK.
4. From the Setup menu, click Time Restrictions.
You have the following options:
Unrestricted
NightGuard
Custom.
Just select the Unrestricted or modify Custom to re adjust the settings.
Adding a web site exception (Advanced). This is how its done.
You can create exceptions for any of the following reasons:
? Web sites that do not belong to any category
? Web sites you know your children access frequently, so you can make sure
you enforce the appropriate action (allow or block)
? To allow access to specific Web sites that belong to a category that you otherwise want to block
To set up Web site exceptions:
1. Start K9 Web Protection
2. From the top menu bar, click Setup.
3. If you have not already logged in, enter your administrator password at the
prompt and click OK.
4. From the Setup menu, click Web Site Exceptions.
Then exceptions can be added.
To remove the exception just remove the setting or add it to Always Allow.
To override a block and access blocked Web pages, you must enter the administrator password you configured when you installed K9 Web Protection.
Special cases.
If a Web page was blocked because it was on the always block list or because it is classified in a category you chose to block, you can ask Blue Coat to review
the Web site’s rating as follows:
? You can request Blue Coat associate the Web site with more categories
? You can request Blue Coat reclassify the Web site, if you believe the categorization is incorrect.
Enjoy!

You will have to remove k9 or wipe and reload the OS. The issue is caused by the k9 software.
If you bought the machine with k9 preloaded, then you will need to wipe and reload your OS and drivers, or call k9 for removal.
If it was installed for you by an administrator, (your computer guru), you had best speak with him/her before taking any action. Administrators often have records of these things, and they can assist you.
If you are a parent and you installed this to protect your children, but you forgot the password, then you may need to call k9 and have someone assist you. there is likely a "master" password or a reset code they can give to allow you to reset and reapply your settings.
If you are a child trying to get into adult websites, and your parents installed k9 to stop you, then I suggest you grow up, get a job, buy your own computer, and do as you will with it. After you drop $700 to $900 of your own money into it, then you may visit anyplace you desire, and infest it with junk. Once it is no longer useful, you may begin to appreciate why someone tried to install security on it. Once your investment becomes a blinking bleeping heap of slow uselessness, you might understand why your parents installed k9.
1. Go to K9's Web site, and download a copy of K9 -& get a new license 2. Go to your Program files on your hardrive, and delete the FILES that are in the K9 Folder. 3. Empty your recycle bin 4. Reinstall K9, enter a new password, complete install program 5. That is it! -you can now uninstall K9 or set it accordingly
Just some advice from someone in the same situation!
