You need to check the charger, I do not think it is any good as the charging power is in the charger unit not the computer. It sounds as if the battery in the computer is totally dead and that is why it shut down. Hope this helps.
Try removing the battery and use your charger only in powering up your computer to check if your charger still works. If it doesn't power your computer then you need to replace the charger.
If it works on the computer then there is something wrong with the charger and not the GPS. Have a close look at the wire and the plug. Perhaps compair the plug to the one on the computer.
In order for to check if the charger is working properly, you can remove the battery and use the charger only. and observe for about 1 to 2 hours if your computer did not shutdown then your charger is still good.
If you still have warranty with asus much better if you ask them to replace your charger and that's for free.
sir the charger for the psp is different and you do not need to hook it up on the computer for it to charge.you got the wrong charger. buy the appropriate charger sir. hope i helped you with your problem.
Sounds like your charger is not working, also it could just be your battery is no good. To check if it is the charger,remove the battery and see if the computer works with just the charger, if it is, it is your battery.
If the charger works on another machine, then your laptop has a faulty mainboard.
if the charger does not work on another computer then you need a new charger. Take the brand and model etc details from the bottom of the charger / power adapter a find a replacement either locally or on ebay.com for example.
if the new charger works on another machine but not on your computer, then your computer is faulty. Most likely not worth the replacement of a mainboard, I would buy a new laptop if you are outside of warranty.

hi i had the problem before , you have to buy dell charger in order to charge your battery, universal charger doesnot work with this, the only way not to lose your power is to keep the charger connected, in this way the battery will not be charged but u will not lose the power. again you need dell charger the universal only gives power but doesnot charge.

Dell has cheap chargers, the wire snapped on the inside underneath the rubber. My ex boyfriends charger had the same thing happen. You need to buy a totally new charger .
