Nintendo 64 Console Logo

Question about Nintendo 64 Console

1 Answer

I just bought a N64 and the game Donkey Kong 64 from ebay. I played it for about half an hour and the whole thing just froze. Is it the game or the system. I need to know so I can get my money back or if there is a way i can fix it myself so i dont have to wait for a new one?

Well it might be the expansionpack then because its telling you that the expansion pack going to die on you soon. I had a freezing problem with my aqua N64 console so I put the catriages in halfway and it works amnd try cleaning the console out too. My black one works fine with the expanson pack so its not the expansonpack then.

Your Nintendo 64 is fine. Donkey Kong 64 requires the following expansion pak to work because of its enhanced graphics.

Try blowing out the Game slot on the console, and then blow out the large metal prong on the bottom of the game. Also try waiting a little bit, your nintendo might need to cool down.
After a long time n64 games fail to start up on most attempts, so keep trying, it will start up eventually.

My nintendo 64 is lagging!

The N64 was originally made for the old analog CRT TV, if you are connecting it to a newer type digital TV this could be why you experience lagging as I have those games and do not remember any lag in any of them not that I have played them in the last 2 years. The worst case scenario is that the seller was getting rid of it due to a bad Video chip inside the N64 without stating that there was a problem with it so they could sell it. This is why I never use eBay you just never know what you are getting. I am not sure if Nintendo still support this console but it maybe worth a try to contact them directly and see if they are able to help you figure out what it is.

Your English is very good I understood everything with no problems my friend.

All of my other N64 games work perfectly, but when I put in Donkey Kong 64 it always freezes during the 64 logo or the Dolby thing. I tried trading it in for a different one, but the second one freezes in...

Well there could be an internal issue with the console then or video games consoles are senseitive to heat and it could be an over heating issue. Dust acts as a baricade and it makes video game console over heat 10 times faster than their normal rate.

What is it about?

The N64 is the third home-console published by Nintendo and is the successor of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was competing with the Playstation 2 and the Dreamcast.
The name Nintendo 64 comes from the fact that it was one of the first 64-Bit consoles. The "64" can also be found in various game titles like "Super Mario 64" oder "Donkey Kong 64".
The console was released in 1996 and the last game was released in 2002.
Which made this console popular was mostly the nintendo only milestones. The Zelda game (Ocarina of time) is among fans, still the best Zelda game ever released. It was also the debut of the first 3D Mario and Donkey Kong games.

My console wont work and when it did it had an error sign. Something about needing a pak. What do I need and how do I get one?

your looking for the "expansion pack" its needed to play the games on the n64, it is located on top of the n64 towards he front of the console. that little door/flap between the power and reset button. get one online for cheap. like ebay or something. keep in mind there are 2 different kind of expansion packs on is black. it is the standard one. one is red on top, that one is better and will play all n64 games like donkey kong 64 and zelda ocarina of time
