Hi, my sony amp ta fe370 has stopped working. It switches on and all the lights come as usual but there is no sound coming out of the speakers. I have tried headphones and there is no sound there either. Any ideas? Thanks

Did inserting the headphone Jack cut the speakers off before it stopped working? If it did then you should look at the headphone jack socket inside the unit. The terminals could be either bent out of shape, broken or just dirty.
What power are you meaning that
Also, all of the other decks connected to this also have lost power
Is this mains power
If so check the power on the switch
It all depends what connections you have on the back of your TV? You should look to see if there are two red and white audio "out" sockets. Don't try to connect via audio "in". If you have an HDMI connection on both TV and amp that will also do the trick. Also SCART sockets have audio out connections. You can get adapter leads to connect it all up.
The problem is hard to track down, but fixable. You need to determine if the pre-amp has failed or the power amp. To determine which try this: Connect a device which plays music and turn the volume control fully up! You can sometimes hear the sound better via a pair of headphones. If you can hear any signal or music breaking through, then the pre-amp section is OK. If you can't it might not be. If you can hear faint music then it will be the main power amp to blame. Now because you have lost both channels you must only investigate devices (such as IC's) which have both channels running to them. Some amps have one big power amp IC that does the work. So if that goes it takes the sound with it. Have a look at whatever is on the big heat sink first, that will determine a lot of your future actions.
Check the speaker, switch the left and right ones and see if the left speaker still has no sound. If it works the speaker is bad, if it doesnt your left output is bad...
If you can't hear any sound from the headphone output, and by sound I mean a hum with the volume turned up, then the amp has either got a faulty internal power supply or the main amp has failed. Try looking inside to see if any fuse has blown. Also look around to see if you can see or smell anything has blown.
Usually that means that the amp was qworking too hard. Have the customer check to be sure that the wires to the speakers are not touching. Also, be sure that the rated impedence for the speakers matches what is required for the amp. If the speakers are rated at 4 ohms and the amp is expecting 8, this will occur as well.
Hi Jimbob. Sounds like you have dirty/dry controls/switches. The contact lubricant dries out on them producing intermittent and scratchiness when you operate them. Clean any offending controls or signal switches with CRC2-26 by squirting(to flood then internals) each control/switch. you will have to do this from the inside of the amp. You may also have a dirty speaker protection relay, sound may return to a dead channel when you turn the vol up points to that. Good Luck. If you need more info feel free to get back to me here. Happy to talk you through more if you cant sort it out.
