My washer (whirlpool duet) seems to cancel in the middle of load cycle. Most often the word "suds" is displayed. It is not the amount of detergent or the type because I use very little High Efficiency type detergent. thanks

SUDS LOCK (Overdose of Detergent detected during the Wash Cycle)

The motor control unit senses a suds lock condition by analyzing the current draw on

the drive motor. If "Sud" is displayed a potential suds lock is detected. This may

signify a bad pump, an extra heavy load, excessive detergent, or excessive suds.

Normal cycle without adding any detergent. This should clear the unit of the

excess detergent.

• Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked

• Check Wire Harness connections to the Drain Pump, Pressure Switch, and

Central Control Unit (CCU)

• Check/ Clean Drain Pump Filter of foreign objects

• Check Drain Pump

• Check the Pressure Switch

• Check CCU

Rl on the control panel

The "rl" (remove load) error code appears when you are running the "Clean Washericon1.png" cycle. You must not have a load of clothes in the washer during this cycle. Remove the clothes from the drum, and restart the cycle. The "Sud" error indicates that the detergent is over-sudsing. The Duet washer automatically combats this by reducing the amount of suds in the washing machine. Let the washer finish the suds-reduction steps. Use less detergent during the next wash cycle.
tip

Whirlpool duet washer F02 or F21 error code.

This error code indicates that drain times are longer than expected.

Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or clogged. Straighten the hose for adequate water flow. Remove any blockage from the drain hose, drainpipe or utility sink. Use the U-shaped drain hose form on the drain hose, and secure the drain hose.

Use only HE High Efficiency detergent. Using non-HE detergent, or more than the manufacturer's recommended amount of detergent, can cause excessive suds. The excess suds will slow or stop the removal of water from the washer.

Concentrated detergents labeled 2x and higher will require a small amount of detergent based on load size. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

Temporary fixes:

To remove the error display, press Pause/Cancel twice.

If Pause/Cancel does not work:
  1. Unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute.
  2. Plug in the washer or reconnect the power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.

Suds message

The suds message usually means that there was too much detergent in the machine for the load. Remember to use a HE detergent and use the recommended amount. For a small load, use just enough detergent to reach the minimum detergent line (if there is one). Otherwise, you should use about half of the usual amount of detergent for a small load compared to a large load.

Usually the washer will add an additional rinse to remove the extra suds. If you notice detergent is still on your clothes, run the load through the washer on the same cycle without adding more detergent.

The manual for several versions of the Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P are available from GE: https://www.whirlpool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OCManualsLiteratureSearchResultView?catalogId=10561&langId=-1&storeId=10211&krypto=5QgxQhneFlibuKNJvC4qU4ramPrjJ75r2vuMTp0sZ%2F7cWgUj2a5ZKg%3D%3D&ddkey=http:OCManualsLiteratureSearchResultView . What does it mean when sud appears on the display screen and the washers seems like its not doing anything?

Hi, W/D here.
What you are seeing is the suds (SUD) error code, and is sometimes followed by a long drain fault code (F02).
This does not necessarily indicate that you need to change anything at this time. When the machine senses too much suds, the error code is displayed, when too much suds are actually present, a longer drain time results.
Duets are HE (high efficiency) machines, and require a detergent that produces little suds. If you are using HE detergent, cut back on it until you can run a cycle without getting the SUD/F02 alarms. If you are not using HE detergent (we don't either), you really have to be careful with the amount of detergent used.
Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display. Run a cycle without any detergent to flush the machine.
You need to check that the drain hose isn't plugged or have a kink in it.
Make sure that the pump is running. You may need to check the electrical connections at the pump.
Check the filter on the drain pump for debris or foreign objects, which might cause the drain cycle to be extended, if you are also getting the F02 code.
If limiting the detergent, and nothing was found in checking the other items listed, then the pump may need to be replaced.

Suds will not spin out. What can I do?

This machine is designed to use HE detergent which is low sudsing if used in the right amount. If the wrong detergent or too much is used sudsing and possibly an error code of SUDS may occur.

You can run a rinse/spin cycle to help clear the suds, you might have to run this cycle several times until the suds are gone.

If the machine is locked out and will not allow you to start a cycle, try unplugging the machine for 30 seconds then plugging back in. Turn the power on and push cancel/drain. This should let you take the clothes out and start the rinse/spin clean out.

Once you have removed all the suds I would recommend running a cleaner such as smelly washer or Affresh through the machine to remove any hidden residue from the excess soap.

Always use HE detergent in a front loader

F 02 ERROR

Try cycling the washer a few times without a very small load of clothes and no detergent. I assume that you are and have beenm using only HE type detergent and I suggest you try using about 1/2 to 1/3 the amount called for until your system is purged of any and all remaining detergent in the lines. Here are the manufacturers reccommendations to address your problem..

“SUD” (Suds Routine)
When excessive suds are detected, a suds routine
automatically starts. This routine removes extra suds and
assures proper rinsing of your garments. “SUD” is displayed
during rinsing and at the end of the cycle to inform you that
Suds Routine was activated. Use only HE (High Efficiency)
detergents.

Hope this helps you..

“F02” (Drain Problem)
Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice to cancel the cycle. Unplug
washer or disconnect power.
Check the following:
Is the drain hose kinked?
Is the drain hose frozen?
Is the drain hose clogged?
Is the drain hose more than 96" (2.4 m) above the floor?
