My Advantium over is approximately 9 years old. I heated up broccoli last night for dinner and then it just went out. There is completely no light on showing the time and I checked the breaker switch. Do you what it could be?

Check the wall socket to make sure you have electricity to the plug. Secondly then check to see of the appliance "fuse" has blown, simple repair. If not, you have a costly serious issue.

if out of warranty you can try a simple "fix" . some microwaves are made with a simple fuse on the inside of casing- should be able to remove cover with 4-6 screws and then locate fuse- DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE! If in doubt replace the whole thing.

PS- if dusty inside ,use canned air(for computers or cameras)

GE Advantium Microwave section doesn't work.

The primary interlock switch on my Advantium has failed twice. The replacement part is available at: appliancepartspros.com part no. for my Advantium was AP2622452 and it cost $11.74 + $6.95 shipping.

For what it's worth, my nylon connector and wire covering were also scorched a bit but the last primary interlock switch lasted me for over a year.

Was using it last night to heat something up. When almost done, microwave made a zizt type of sound and went off. I turned it back on and it continued cooking, but I started smelling burned plastic or

More common then you think, i have gone through a couple microwaves in the last ten years, they both failed very similar to what you describe. One popped the breaker one day, reset the breaker and it worked again but had an odd smell to it. I took it apart and couldn't find anything burnt or melted so i tossed it and got a new one, i didn't want a microwave burning the house down! I would suggest unless your really tied to that microwave that you just replace it for safety sake. Four years or forty years old don't matter anymore, i had one microwave, LG brand, that died two months after the warranty expired and it would cost more to repair it then replace the thing!

IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF THINGS RANGING FROM DIODES TO CAPACITORS TO YOUR MAGNATRON OR THERMOSTAST OR TRANSFORMERS. IT'S DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE WITHOUT SEEING THIS MICROWAVE. YOU MAY BE BETTER OFF GETTING YOURSELF A DIFFERENT ONE.

Power Out

Common problem with the Advantium. Culprit is a thermal cut off (TCO) for the cavity. Other posts detail where it is. I ordered a replacement at the link below.

Advantium -- wont cook

The solution to this problem is to replace the magnetron. I had the same symptoms, and I got a used magnetron and replaced it. It takes some advanced electrical skill, and you have to disassemble the oven all the way to the inside stainless steel. I have the same exact model, manufactured in November of 1999.
