NEC MultiSync LCD4010 40 in. Television Logo

I use my monitor (LCD4010) as a television connected to DirecTV. I also have a dvd player attached. Has worked perfectly. Yesterday, while watching tv, I lost the picture. Sound is still ok. It is not a black screen but is snowy... like an old tv with no antenna hooked up. Any idea what happened? What to do?

SOURCE: problem with plasma tv

Something in the path to drive the other half of the screen has failed or is broken. Need some basic troubleshooting information in order to be any more specific, but I've seen this problem before with NEC plasmas. If still under warranty better use it Good luck

SOURCE: No display

When you get the red and green leds lit it means the screen doesn't see an input signal and has gone to stand-by. That the red led goes off when you reconnect suggests a signal has been recognised by the screen but be very aware that it may not be a good signal. As you are using a PC input I will assume the signal is RGBHV, maybe you have the H and V swapped around? I would try another computer source into the screen.
You say you are using the digital harness, please explain exactly what this is.

SOURCE: No signal with NEC plasma PX-50XM4A

You were right when you called it a monitor, it is a monitor, which means no tuner. To be able to use it as a TV you will need cable box or satellite receiver or something that has a tuner in it.

Television turns off every 50 seconds watching a DVD via HDMI

If it has an internet connection (wired or wireless) allow it to update it's firmware. If it does not have a connection, I would take it back to the store and have then replace it.

My TV flashes sound and picture with DVD and some channels from DirecTV. Both DVD player and DirecTV are ok with other monitors. Only the 500+ channels are involved? What may be wrong?

Look for any loose contacts in RC jacks/sockets/Cable. Even if one strand of wire is loose and touching the earth connection of the jack, you might get these sort of problems. Check whether the service provider has any problems beyond 500+ channels. Depending on the frequency, some channels are generally weak.

Have directv what are the connections i need

You should be able to connect direct tv OUT yellow red and white to the IN yellow red and white on your DVD player/VCR combination. Then you connect OUT on your DVD player/VCR combination to the av video input of your television. By yellow red and white I am reffering to composite/RCA cables. There might be a way to connect with component cables though. I would need more information.

How do you connect a dvd player to the back of the 42''JVC LCD ?

the directv needs hookedup to the tv, also the dvd player needs hooked up to the back of the tv, what type of cabling are you using, red/white/yellow or coax (where it screws in) or does it plug in and say hdmi, etc.

I have a magnavox dvd player and just had directv installed and I cannot get the dvd to recognize the directv channels. I can only record two digit numbers.

your best bet for this problem is to rearrange the way you have your direct tv and dvd hooked up to your television. a lot of the time you can plug the dvd player into the input/antenna in jack on the back of the receiver. that way you can watch all the channels you want AND be able to watch dvds without having to unplug and replug stuff in. more than likely you'll have to push an input or tv/vcr button in order to switch between watching direct tv and dvds, but it's a lot simpler than switching chords around.
