Samsung RS21DGRS side by side fridge freezer. Fridge not working became noisey then stopped working. It is 2 years old and two week out of warranty.

We had the same fault on our Samsung American style RSH1DBRS fridge freezer as lots of other people seem to be having. After doing lots of research, we found the best solution seemed to be to buy a repair kit from Appliance DIY Repairs. The instructions were fantastic and the installation was a doddle. Excellent service & well priced.

there may be a problem with the water lines or bottles in the fridge compartment is frozen raise the temp in the fridges to about 38 for a couple of days and this should unthaw the lines

circuit board controling temp to both fridge and freezer is out. Could have been fried by an electrical surge or just a badcircuit board.

its likley to be the thermostat packed up on you, the only fix is a new thermostat fitted,,,

the issue is not with the motor to be honest you have probably wasted money buy a new fan motor ,

the fan only stops working when ice builds up and forces it to jam , the ice builds up as the defrost heater is more than likely faulty - very common issue on all uk samsung rs21 models ,

to rectify the fault totally its recommended to replace 4-5 components that operate the fridge cooling /defrosting system - sounds complicated but its really just 1-2 hour job for a skilled competent person

Hi steven, Maybe this could help? Has anyone moved the settings on the fridge? Your fridge is actuallty controled by the freezer with a fan and flap in the fridge compartment. These sometimes ice up and do not let the cold air into the fridge if this is the case then i would switch it of and defrost it ( Yes it is supposed to frost free ) But they do fail. Check to see if it has two compressors on it? see if the fridge one is work and hot as it could be independant from the freezer depending on the spec!

Control board has gone bad....

What happens is the defrost is controlled electronically from a circuit board, when this goes bad, the freezer quits defrosting, and freezes the fans that circulate air through the fridge side of things.

To check this, unplug the entire fridge, leave the freezer open, wait for it to defrost a bit, if this causes the fridge to start cooling again when you plug it back in, then its the defrost. You should also see ice crystals on the back of the freezer just under the icemaker.
