SOURCE: my computer will not read my io magic giga bank 6 gb

Was your computer ever able to recognize your GigaBank, or is it new?

The most common problem people have with a new drive not showing up in My Computer are:

1) The drive is not formatted

2) The drive letter is mapped incorrectly

You can check both of these things in Disk Management by right-clicking on My Computer and choosing Manage, then clicking on Disk Management on the left hand side.

If your drive doesn't show up in Disk Management, and you are also unable to see the drive on multiple computers, then you may be experiencing a hardware malfunction.

If you are still within your warranty period and you are experiencing a hardware malfunction, we will be happy to replace your unit for you. Specific warranty and replacement information is available at www.iomagic.com, by clicking on Support.

Have a nice day,

SOURCE: Computer is not recognizing my external hard drive

If the light won't blink, there could be problem with the power source. Do scanning hardisk for errors manually ( take off the hardisk from the case, assemble it on other PC Desktop)

Acer Aspire 5002WLMi Laptop won't recognize full 320 Gigabytes of new PATA hard drive. It's always been running a 80 Gigabyte 4200 RPM but that drive is old...a 2005 HD. New WD320 only reads 137...

The BIOS in the ACER determines the maximum size of the hard drive it can support.
Check the laptop's specification to see the max size you can install in this model laptop.
It appears that the max size your laptop can support is 140 Gb (unformatted). 137Gb formatted.

I suggest you install a hard drive up to 140 Gb capacity in your laptop and place the 320 Gb hard drive in an USB hard drive adapter case and when you attach this hard drive to the USB port in your ACER laptop then you will be able to get the full 320 Gb capacity after you delete the partition and create a 320 Gb partition and format the hard drive.

I install a 320Gb HD on my desktop the BIOS recognize the 320 Gb, but when I try to install windows xp it only shows me 137 Gb.

That means you have already partitioned your HDD to Linux. Linux partitions are not recognized from windows XP so, use a bootable partitioner like partition magic to recover your 193GB.

some things coming to my mind are
1) the hard drive doesnt have mac partitions
2)the hard drive is not correctly formatted
3)the rom chip on the pcb lost information
4) the drive corrupted one of its firm ware modules usually the ata module.
if you cant solve this problem pm me.

Maxtor Basics 320 GB external harddrive cant be recognized

There's a good chance the shop you bought the drive from didn't have SP3 installed. For some reason, SP3 has an issue with USB peripheral devices. Windows has created a patch to rectify the problem. Click on the link below and install the "Fixit" patch to enable your PC to recognize your HD. Best of luck.

Hard drive upgrade

Hi,
Ther could be two reasons, for the same.
1. The hardrive is not working correctly as the mesasge tells you
2. The 320 gb harddrive may not be supported by the sony motherboard.
Would suggest you to call sony support to verify if the system supports 320 gb hdd , cause i was not able to find the same information on there website.

Thanks

No recognized by any PC I try to plug in

I was just having the same problem... but someone I connected it to my computer, forgot it was connected, and when i got back everything was back again (needless to say i got another 500GB HD from another company and back up the first 500gb).

But if that didn't work, i was going to take the drive out and connect it as a slave to my computers MB, back it up, reformat it, and then put it back in the enclosure to see if it works again (at least i have my data).

$500 bucks?!?!? Shoot, send it to me and i'll do it for $299 (that includes a Western Digital 500gb External =)

Hopes this helps.
