Hi,

Even though it is possible that your USB hard driveis corrupt, but

before you finally conclude, try out these few troubleshooting

steps.

First of all, it is possible that the USB port that you are using is a

USB 1.0 port, which has a lower voltage not enough to

power on your Storage drive.

In this case, there are two things you can do,

1. Change the USB port you are using for the storage drive to a

USB 2.0 one (Just keep Checking all the ports one by one in case

you dont know which one it is).

2. If your Storage drive has external power facility, just plug it in

an external power first, before connecting it to the system.

If there are no USB 2.0 Ports on your system at all,

then just go to any electronic store and tell them you want to buy

a USB 2.0 Expansion card.

and if it is a laptop, A USB 2.0 PCMCIA card.

Install it on your system, and connect your external drive through it.

Meanwhile, before you try out the second option, test the drive on

a friend's system, that you are sure has a very good system, with

USB 2.0 port.

If after trying out all these, the USB Drive still doesn't work, then

I'm afraid, the drive might have been bad/spoilt.

Kindly keep me posted about the problem and let me know how it

goes

Hope this helps you out.

Thank you for using Fixya

Goodluck

Transcend HD has stopped being detected

I would say either the controller board or drive itself is failing. Check in BIOS to see if the drive is detected at all. If it is you can try using SpinRite to recover the disk.

My laptop can detect my hard drive but i cant access the files in it

you can recover files from hard drive with asoftech data recovery program. download the program from
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/
It tells the steps how to perform data recovery.

If above does not work, you may have to format the hard drive (use quick format), and then use above mentioned software to scan again the hard drive and recover your files.

Search online for a professional "data recovery service". For a significant fee, they can repair your disk-drive, just long-enough to copy all your files to a brand-new disk-drive.

Hi,
There are two options you can try.
First is that if it's a physical damage then it would take you more time to recover your data from it.
I will guide you with the data recovery step.
I am posting link for : GET DATABACK a recovery software.

download it accordingly.
Choose accordingly upon your drive partition may be its a fat or ntfs one.
run the software and it will scan the unreadable partition on the Hard-disk.
After that, run disk management and try to format the Hard-disk there.
Try this and let me know
