What is the capacity of Frigidaire washer GLTF1240A

The Frigidaire GLTF1240A clothes washer has a tub capacity of 2.65 cubic feet. Under typical conditions, based on a yearly average of 392 loads of laundry, the Frigidaire GLTF1240A is estimated to use 341 kilowatts of energy per year. Obviously, this number will vary depending on things like the size of loads that you wash, and temperature at which you wash your clothes. Also, this figure is calculated according to a test done by the US Department of Energy which takes into account the energy consumed by the washer as well as the energy needed to heat the water with an electric water heater. If you use a gas water heater you will probably use fewer kilowatt hours but you will consume gas to heat the water.

Its estimated water use is 9,806 of gallons per year. It is estimated to use 9.4 gallons per cycle, per cubic foot of tub volume. You can use this "per cycle, per cubic foot" to compare washers against each other. The lower the number, the more efficiently the washing machine uses water, assuming your clothes are equally clean after being washed in either washing machine.

I have front loader washing machine and the rubber has got mould and having difficulty in removing the black mould

  • Saturate an old cloth with white vinegar. Alternatively, you might use petroleum jelly on the cloth to remove the mold.Pull the gasket out gently with your hands to reveal the mold and mildew buildup inside the folds of the gasket.Wipe the mold away from the gasket with the cloth. Continue working to wipe away all mold from the folds of the rubber gasket.Dry the folds of the gasket with a dry cloth when you finish removing the mold.Repeat this procedure at least once per month to prevent mold and mildew from forming. If you notice mold occurring more frequently, clean it off when you see it.

  • Tips for Preventing Mold & Smelly Problems:
    • Always leave the door and dispenser unit slightly ajar after the laundry is done. Front-load washers and the detergent/softener dispenser drawer must dry out.
    • Never leave a wet washload in the washer overnight; remove it when the washing cycle is complete and leave the door open.
    • After a load is done, always rotate the drum with your hand to see and remove all items. Some could be sticking to top or sides of the washer drum.
    • Use softener sheets in the dryer instead of liquid softeners in the washer.
    • Liquid detergents may leave less residue than powdered formulas which may not dissolve properly.
    • Use less than the recommended detergent level for your load. Too much detergent can cause a residue build up. Experiment until you find a minimum measurement that delivers a clean wash. This is also a money saver.
    • Occasionally wash some loads such as whites, linen and towels in warm or hot water to help flush out wash residue.
    • Always clean your washer as per your product manual. High efficiency front-load models have a cleaning cycle and it's imperative that you periodically run this cycle as directed.
    • Check the gasket just inside the door opening and remove any visible debris. You can also wipe it to speed the drying process.
    • Always use HE detergents with high efficiency front-load washers. Specially marked HE laundry detergent is low sudsing and is recommended for these low-water washers.
    • If this advice was helpful a vote with the thumbs up would be appreciated. Thanks.

Washer smells like mildew after a load of wash, clothes smell.

Use a washer cleaner like AhFresh (all three tablets) with the tub clean cycle, no clothes in the washer. Now, only use 1 to a maximum of 2 tablespoons of HE laundry detergent per cycle. Due to low water consumption of these machines, you must adjust soap usage or odors will result. It may also help to leave door open for a hour or so after cycle is finished to allow inner tub to dry completely.

    Moldy smelling clothes

First, clean your washer with one of the front load washer cleaners on the market. (Affresh, washer magic, smellywasher cleaner, whirlaway hot tub cleaner, or Tide front load washer cleaner) Use the longest, hottest cycle your washer has, with no clothes.
Second, rewash the smelly clothes with the heavy wash cycle and a second rinse option, using no soap or fabric softener. This will remove the soap and/or fabric softener build up in the clothes which is causing the smell. Third, begin using one to no more than two tablespoons of HE soap per load, and not more than 1 teaspoon full of fabric softener if you use it. This is because top load washers used up to 45 gallons of water per load, and your front load machine is only using about 12 gallons total. If you are washing a load of bath towels (which were only used to dry off your clean body, not wipe up the floor or something like that) they are not really dirty,...... for washing "clean" towels, don't use any soap, and of course never use fabric softener on towels.

Tumble dry is heating but takes forever to dry

check your air exhaust (including the lint filter) from the air duct connector (remove duct if necessary) on back of dryer to the exterior of the building. Somewhere, there must be air blockage.
