Ocr missing in folder. I can not scan text as PDF files

You are going to want to find any OCR software that works for your printer. OCR is 'Optical Character Recognition'. It will take the scan and convert it into a text document, which is either already compatible for MS Word, or easily converted itself.

The Lexmark OCR scan software is available in the installation disk that came with the printer. You can explore the installation disk and look for the Abby setup application in the OCR folder (for Windows). For Mac OS, right-click on the Install icon and choose Show Package Contents. Open Contents folder > open Package folder and manually install the Abby Finereader application.

In order to scan to text or pdf, we need to install OCR.
Please follow the below steps to install OCR.


Please open the link and click on download only.
Once we click on download only, we will get an option to save.
Please save it on the desktop and then run.

Please do not close that window.
Now, please open the temp folder by performing the steps given below.
: Press and hold the windows icon button ( between the ctrl and alt buttons on the keyboard ) and then press the R button.
: Run window opens up.
Type %temp% in the box and press enter.
I would request you to perform the steps to open the run window and type %temp% in the box and press enter.
The temp folder opens up, once that is done.
Please open all the 7z folders and locate the OCR_webpack folder
: Plaese copy the same folder ocr_web_pack and paste it on the desktop.
Close all the windows.
Please click on OK or cancel the error message.
Now, open the OCR_web_pack folder that you have pasted on the desktop.
Double click on the .exe file found in the OCR_web_pack folder.
This should start installting the OCR software in the computer.
You will get the options, Help (folder), Licensing(folder), Setup(folder), Autorun, hpqbpl1.dat, hpzsetup, setup.
: Open the setup folder.
: You would find the OCR setup.exe file, or set up foler or set up file, double click on the same to start installing the same.
Once the installation is complete, we will be able to scan to text.

OCR is a program for scanning text to a word processor; it is not needed for scanning. If you need to scan text to a word processor, you can use any OCR program. You may have to purchase it

Do you have MS Office 2003 or 2007? If so, there is a Microsoft Document Imaging tool that you can use to scan text documents. You can also search www.download.com for free OCR tools you can use for the same purpose.

Stop scanning as an OCR. Scan as a PDF or photo and it will scan it exactly as it was on the scanbed.

When scanning for OCR OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION it is translating the text for notepad and saving the pictures at the end or in separate files.

Use any OCR software and it will take care of converting the scanned image into .DOC file or .PDF file. Some OCR softwares require a minimum dpi output, standard being 300 dpi. Ensure that the image is clean and 'straight', deskew if skewed.
