Memory card error

I connected my cammera's memory card directly to the computer and I got an error mesage. When I tried the memory card in the camera I also got the same error from the camera. Do you think the memory got burned when I connected it to the computer?

Dear jk_cibergirl:

It is likely that some type of corruption has happened to your memory card. Try reformatting the card in your camera to correct any problems. If that works then you should be fine to take more pictures from this point. If not, you may need to get another memory card. Check your memory card manufacturer for warranty information.

Just a few tips to help you avoid this problem in the future:

1. Even though your computer can format a memory card, do
not ever do so from your PC. Your computer lays down a
different type of file table than your camera, which can lead
to data corruption.

2. Always format the memory card in the camera it will be
used in after each downloading session AND even when
using a brand new card right out of the box for the first time.

3. Do not share cards among cameras - even if they use the
same type of card - even if they are the same camera model!
Consider your memory card to be camera specific.

4. Do not place your camera close to strong magnetic fields
(e.g on top of a television)

5. Lastly, even though your camera has a single image erase
button, do not do what some do and fill your card up and then
go into the playback mode and erase a few images just to
take a few more new images. This almost certainly will lead
to data corruption on your card. Download your images and
reformat the card to take additional shots.

If you need to recover any lost images from that memory card, you can give it a try by simply downloading free software from the internet (such as Zero Assumption software available at www.z-a-recovery.com), connecting your memory card to your computer via a card reader, and running the program on the card reader volume.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
HeavyDLB

I get a communications error mesage when I connect to my computer to copy or print pictures. The card is readable in the camera but the camera does not show up as a valid drive in "My Computer".

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Lost my plug in for the kodak easyshare c330 where can I get one to plug into camera and computer

If you want to download the pictures and movies from the cammera you can unload the memory card from the cammera and insert it in a card reader and then to the usb and without a cord you can do this easily, but you will get the cord in a cammera shop. available in your locality.

Troubleshooting the camera displaying Communication Error when connected to the computer via USB. If the camera displays "Communication Error," when trying to download images the main cause for this error is that there are more than 1000 images stored on the memory card. It is recommended if there are more than 1000 images on the memory card, that you use a card reader to acquire the images, or to delete images off of the memory so that there are less than 1000 images to download from the memory card.
If this is not the case, there are not 1000 or more images on the memory card, try reconnecting the camera to abnother port on the computer, try another cable or another computer. This error can also display when connecting to a direct print printer. Please check with the printer manufacturer for more information on this error.

Error message - Memory card requires formating

Before suspecting the camera, I'd simply try another memory card in it. Memory cards can and do fail and often can behave inconsistently before they fail completely.
