i can recommend read very well you owner manual specially the troubleshooting section. The images in the LCD monitor will darken in strong sunlight or bright light. This is a normall occurrence the devices containing CCDS, and doesnot contitute a malfunctions. If you are using too much the flash+zoom, the batteries quicly will drain. maintian another set of batteries for replace, or better buy recharges batteries. God bless you
when the lcd screen is black or white, the best solution is for a replacement, change the lcd screen immediately. The nikon s220 lcd screen is not in a high price, you can buy it and fix it by yourself. http://www.skiliwah.cn/ http://www.digitalcamera-parts.net/ e-mail:[email protected] cindy
Do you mean the lens, or the LCD screen ? Either way, with equipment this old, repair is not economically viable - get a new one, and treat it with care.
Press the Auto button (camera icon). Press the MENU button to bring up the shooting menu. Select "Color Options" then select "Black-and-White".
Unless you're just snapshooting, I recommend shooting in color and then converting to black-and-white using photo-editing software on a computer. You get much better control over contrast, brightness, etc. than what the camera gives you.
I'm not convinced that the LCD itself is bad, from what is reported. The LCD display has a ribbon connector that connects to the main circuit board, and can come slightly loose. When it does, the camera has to be disassembled to disconnect and reconnect the connector. There is no design flaw that I know or have heard of concerning this camera. This happens with all brands of digital cameras at times, not just the Coolpix. It doesn't cost anything to disconnect and reconnect the ribbon connector, so I would try that first, then replace it if does turn out to be bad. There are videos on YouTube that show how to reseat the connector. Good luck, and hope this helps.
Found solution thru a google search, unplugged the camera from the computer, turned the camera off, plugged it back in and then turned it back on, the camera icon finally showed up in the Nikon transfer program
