Every time I try to send a fax on my HP PSC 950, as the fax number is being dialed, it sends out a busy signal, even though the number is not busy. Can anyone help me with any adivise on how to fix this problem? HP wouldn't help me because I bought the machine over a year ago...so you know what that means...NO FREE HELP!!
No, I only have dial up, and this happens with every fax that I try to send, even when I have checked to make sure that the fax line is not busy, so as you can see, I'm still stuck, do you have any other suggestions??No, I only have dial up, and this happens with every fax that I try to send, even when I have checked to make sure that the fax line is not busy, so as you can see, I'm still stuck, do you have any other suggestions??

I called Canon about this. They had me tweak the transmission start
speed (Menu>FAX setting>TX settings>TX start speed). It was
too fast. Set it to 4800. Then it was too slow. Clicked it up to 7200
and now it works!! TX Start Speed should not be too fast or too slow.

Hi,
You need to reset the memory, since previously you have dialed some number, which is not able to connect. So restart the printer. Unplug the printer for 10 minutes and plug back the power to the printer.
The number u are dialing is either busy or someting is wrong with the phone line thus not connecting to the other party. The fax set up may be confiqurated wronlgy.
Dial the number on a regular phone and verify that the number ANSWERS with the fax tones immediately. If it doesn't, then the line will register as busy to your fax.
This could be related to the fax machine, but more than likely it's a phone line issue. Try sending a fax manually by using the fax machine's speaker or "on-hook", then manually dial the number. Listen carefully as the machine dials and make sure it's even dialing out. Do not hit start until you hear the other fax machine pick up. If the "fast" busy signal occurs before dialing is complete or right after, have your phone line checked.
If you get this on every number, check your setup and make sure that you haven't set it to add some extra number. Also try to send a fax to another fax number.
the number is busy. Try pressing the monitor button and listening for a dial tone. No dial tone means your phone line is not working. If you have dial tone, dial the number you wish to fax and listen to see if it picks up. If you get a busy signal, or hear someone answer, that is why it's not working. If you hear the fax tones, press start and send your document. This is a way to fax that allows you to hear the whole process.
