The printer will print one label correctly, then feed out a blank one. when the next label is printed, the printer reverse feeds the blank label into the printer to print the next one, but not far enough to print the entite second label.

No, there is not too much on the label. This is a standard amount of info that is put on the same labels in many other offices of the company. This is just a new label printer in a new office, and im assuming it is a setting of some sort. Any other ideas?

This sounds like a size issue, meaning that your label has too many lines and that kicks to the "next page".

Look for too many line items on first label.

Reversing Labels before Printing

It's called "Present Distance" and it can be set to "0" in the printer's control panel. Look under Print Control.

My Zebra ZDesigner LP2844 feeds a blank label after printing a label. How do I make it stop doing that?

Define your label size correctly. Measure your LABEL exactly, do not include the backing paper or the gap. Calibrate the printer. HOW?
Power off printer. Press and hold the green feed button down and power printer on. Count one, two and release green button. The printer will calibrate and move labels and then print some stuff on the label. Wait until it has comletely stopped. wait another few seconds and the press the feed key once. The printer will print "out of dump". You should now be ready to print again.

Printer TLP2824 thermal printer prints too many labels. Prints one and then spits two more out(blank).

Clean media sensors. The blank labels are a result of the printer trying to calibrate label length.

Prints lable every 5 labels the rest are blank

Troubleshoot to see if the problem is with the printer or the software. Turn the printer off and back on again for fresh start. After the POST (power on self test) press the FEED key and see if the printer feeds just 1 label. If it does then you know the optic sensor in the printer has a good read on label size. If it feeds more than one, then it needs to be recalibrated for label size.

If it feeds 1 label, then print a format. Now if it prints 1 label and then feeds blank labels, you know the problem is in the label software you're using or in the printer driver. The printer will only do what it's told to do.

At least this way you can narrow the problem down to the printer or the software.

Hope that helps....

My Dymo Labelwriter 450 turbo feeds out 4 labels each time I print one. The print setting is on one label. The first one prints and the next three are blank. If I try to use the reverse button the printer...

Multiple label feeding usually occurs because the sides of the spool holding the roll are not squeezed tightly together. Make sure there's no gap between the labels and the sides of the spool. If this doesn't help. take out the labels and blow a blast of air into the feed slot. There is a sensor inside the slot on the left that detects the hole in the labels, and maybe it is blocked.

Not printing all labels

Do a calibration, this should fix the issue. Also make sure that the label stopper (silver peg on label holder) is pressed firmly against the labels. This will stop the labels from sliding around during a print, throwing off the calibration. Also check to make sure the sensors are free of any dust.

Zebra LP 2844 doesn't feed label all the way out for tearing off. When I print a label everything prints fine, however the last 1/4" or so is still left in the printer. Technically, it's like the printer...

Hi Brian,
When the last label printed is still under the printhead, that means the printer is in "rewind mode". There should be an option for "tear off" mode in the printer driver. This is the mode that pushes the last label printed out to the tear bar. The printer will then "backfeed" when printing the next label. Peel off mode is used if you want to print a label and have it "peeled" off the liner so that you can just pick up the label off the liner and apply it. That takes the rewind option to be installed.
Watch out though, if you are using a label software package, there might be a setting in the label format setup for "tear off" which usually overrides the settings in the printer.

Hope that helps !

IT PRINT A LABEL THEN SKIPS A LABEL THEN PRINTS A LABEL

You need to make sure the media and ribbon are installed correctly, and then make sure the printer is calibrated. Once you verify the media is correct, power off the printer and then back on. It should feed a few labels. Then press the button to feed again to make sure it feeds only one. If it does, then the printer is set. Now, when you go to print, if it still acts up, you need to check either the driver settings or the software settings. Label size could be set incorrectly.

Prints out 2 labels at once

I've seen this be due to dirty sensor or misconfigured media setting.  Clean the sensor in the middle of the edge on the inside and outside of the printer, then if still having trouble - Inside the printer it should tell you that if you are having printing trouble:
  1. turn off the printer
  2. Hold down the feed button
  3. turn on the printer and at the third red flash release the feed button
  4. it will then feed some pages print some info and ask you to hit feed again to exit dump
  5. hit feed again and it will say exiting dump
You have just made it reconfigure media, and it may know when to stop feeding now.
