I am looking for a manuel for a baby lock BL4-428. I purchased one some time ago at my mother-in-law's church's fall auction. One of the church member's mother had passed away and she donated the serger but she didn't know where the manuel was at the time of the auction so I am trying to find one.

I just purchased one from from shop in McDonough, GA called Scarlet Thread. The are Baby Lock dealers and were able to get one for me. It took about 3 weeks but was only $6.99.
By the way, you bought an excellent machine that's super durable!

You can let the vacuum run alittle longer so the bag fills up with air, also make sure that the bag in on correctly and you have the right bag for the unit. Let me know if this helps.

If you are good and familiar with a Kirby, the new generations are self propelled with a transmission BUT may cost you over $1500 US. They will be very familiar but easier to push, yet still vastly overpriced.
You might want to look for a deal on a used or refurb Generation 3-4or 5 or the new G6 in an estate sale or local newspaper. many people buy one then realize they can't run them and sell them off.
Or consider an easier running unit. if you want great quality, mainly for carpet, look for A sebo UPRIGHT

Check the vacuum for a clog somewhere, check any filters to see if they are dirty (i understand filters are going to be dirty after use, but i mean extreme dirty in this case), these are common things to look for when you have this problem

the power light is a 2 stepswitch make sure when u put yhe power head back on it is locking all the way back if so and not working the switch may have failed

Water has to be level with the tip of the bump. 1/8 of the inch above or under - would not make a difference.
