I am a non technical new Ubunto user. There is no current facility in this archive manager to recognise or read rar zip files. Are you able to give me a simple lay step by step method description for...

Go to this website above it has a tutorial of how to do it.

you need to download and extract the file, then you enter the folder that is extracted through terminal. Then you should see avaulability of folder src and file configure. if that is not the case i cant help you. but if those files are present then on the terminal you've opened type "./configure", after some lines coming and going, you should again type "make", and then at last "make install" then the program gets installed. if this not work as planned or some message shows to get dependencies you should get them first.

the most imp thing to rember is that linux doesn't support any type of exe applications
so there are special tyoe of softwares present for linux

I can't get driver for linux!

Hi,
I am sorry to say a4tech not developed there driver for linux os.
you need windows..if you have windows
click here

to download driver for your web cam (win 7 compatibility) from official site of A4tech.
since it is rar file you need software like 7zip or winrar
follow the instructions below for proper installation

Save driver somewhere where you will remember after download . i recommend that you save it on your desktop , so it will be easy to find .
After successfully downloading the driver , do not open the driver file until you make sure the following has completed : ***REMOVE / UNINSTALL any webcam driver from the PC . ( If you forgot to do this part , your driver may not be able to install correctly and successfully later )
After the original driver has been removed , open the downloaded file
Follow the on-screen instructions .
When it's successfully installed , please restart your computer .
After you have restarted the computer , plug the webcam into your computer and it will automatically recognize the new hardware.

I can not boot my computer and need to save files on My documents.

If you want to recover files from My documents folder,use any Linux live cd distribution which are almost 100% free and more than 1000s distribution are available for download in www.distrowatch.com.

I prefer to use ubuntu linux.
