Nothing comes out the expresso side. The steamer works okay, but when I turn the dial to the image of the cup, which should start the flow to the expresso filter, nothing happens except that eventually the steam starts coming out under the cap of the boiler. Nothing comes out the brewing head sieve. I took the sieve off to see if something was plugged up there, but it wasn't, and it seemed dry as a bone in there. Any ideas? I'm wondering if the mechanical switch has a problem. It was initially quite stiff. (tne machine hadn't been used since the '90s

Okay, but you're going to have to do a better job of describing the flow meter. What pump are you talking about. I'm not aware that there is one. Which tank are you talking about, the plastic reservoir for coffee water or the alloy tank for expresso water? And you're joking about neodimium, right?

Okay, but how do you get to the damn flow meter. It's inside a plastic housing and I see no indication of how to get to it.

This indicates the problem of flow meter was not working. The flow meter is located between the water tank and the pump.
This is procedure how to test if flow meter is cause: Open coffee machine and pull out flow meter (do not disconnect it, just unscrew it from housing), prepare any magnet (neodimium magnet if possible), press the button to start making coffee. Coffee machine will start, then stop for a second, then start again. When it starts again put magnet close to flow meter's contacts and then move the magnet away and keep repeating that moves very fast. If coffee machine is working fine then you have to replace flow meter.

Flowmeter is a magnetic device with stops and starts the flow.

here is the picture of how flowmeter looks like:--

That is why i told you to check it with anexternal magnet to see if it gets commands as explained in my previous comment. And the water tank i mentioned above in my previous comment is the alloy tank of your unit.

Expresso is too large

Nancy, this setting is controlled by the settings menu. You reach that by right arrowing through the different beverages/menu selections until you select "Settings".
  • In settings, scroll to "program the amount"
  • place a cup under the spout
  • select the beverage you want to program, espresso in this case
  • select start
  • select okay when the amount of water has been used
  • the machine will remember this setting for future espressos
  • the same menu structure allows you to control the amount of coffee ground, as well as the amounts for other beverages

My Krups 4000 Expresso machine while still heating up is not putting out any coffee(expresso)

I had the same problem. The issue was that the machine needed a clean to dissolve Calcium build up from the water. I used a commercial cleaner available at my local supermarket but have since used white vinegar and get just as good results. I just put about a cup of white vinegard in the water haopper and run the machine without the group attatched. I run the steamer wand and then put another cup through with the group attatched . I then rinse a few times with fresh bottled or distilled water.

Krups XP2070 - expresso part - timing

It sounds like your flow meter is not working properly. Most likely it goes for about 5 seconds, stops and starts blinking with all the icons on. You can replace the flow meter and get it working again.

Don't know how to work the steamer.

I have the same Conair Cuisine Ultra expresso maker as you; its an old one. Make sure the coffee grind is in the spoon/filter cup and as the water heats it will brew the expresso. Simply twist the the knob at the top of the silver steam valve stem will let out hot steam for you to frosh the milk.

Lost my instructions.. How do I steam actual veggies?

Hi,

  • The water level as long do not overflow is ok. Ensure water do touches the centre of the element. It's important to ensure there is sufficent water in the base of the steamer by visually viewing the transparent water level gauage. You can top up water on the either side handle.Turn the timer on if you think that the food will cook at 20 min or so.A receipes will help and tell you to set the exact min for cooking.

Briel espresso machine

Try opening the frothing valve by turning the dial and force water through it instead of steam by pressing the middle, coffee button. You may be experiencing vapor lock. Once the water comes through the steamer valve, turn the steamer knob off and release the coffee button. Then try the steamer button with the steamer dial open. This may do the trick.
