I have a westinghouse lt955s. The machine is stopping while it is draining and on the display it keeps on flashing LD and the number of minutes left of the cycle. Does anyone know what LD means?

LD is long drain time. Be sure there is no blockage in the drain line and clear the filter if there is one. What is the model number of the unit?

Long Drain you may have a something in the drain hose or drain pump or damaged drain pump.

Usual causes are easy to check:
1. Unplug the washer and clean the pump strainer. It is located between the drum and the pump, and will be attached to the drum with a rubber hose.
2. Dump your drain hose into a bucket to remove any build-up in the drain hose. If possible, run an empty load, with the drain hose pointed outside.

“F21” (AKA SD) is a Long (SLOW) Drain error (LD). If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a “SUDS” error may also be displayed. This may be an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:


1.First, attempt to unplug the washer for at LEAST 30 minutes to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). Sometimes this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches with the unit. If the error code returns, proceed to step 2.
2.Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
3.Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
4.Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.

If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump.

Error ld means Long drain. Ld flashes if it takes longer than 5 minutes to pump out water to a point where the operating pressure switch resets. Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

If it doesn't clear the error then check whether your drain is kinked or clogged with lint and debris. If not then there is definetly some problem with your drain filter and/or drain pump.
