Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Windows doesn't recognize camera

The HDMI cable is for connecting the camera to an HD TV. If you want to connect the camera to a computer, use the USB cable.

I went from XP to windows 7 64 bit and now my cyber-shot camera is not recognized when I try to download pictures. Sony couldn't figure it out.

If you connect CyberShot Camera from a USB Cable, check the cable once. If that doesn't solve the problem, Choose Mass storage option from the Camera Menu when prompted. I think it should work.

Unable to download pictures

In the short term you can take the memory card out and use a card reader - at least that will let you see the pictures.

My computer doesn't recognise my camera.

Hi There, If you are using Windows xp or vista, you probably don't need special drivers, the computer should recognize what you are trying to do. Just in case, check your owners manual for computer/download info. Also check your usb input or try another usb input to make sure they are working. You could also try a friends computer to eliminate trouble with your own. If all else fails, you could purchase a usb multi- card reader to down load your pics, around $20.00.
