    first question is

Is it true that its better buy a new one in that case of repairing because it could still happen after repair??

    second question is

What could do that type of damage??

    Thank you for your advice

The problem I have is a power issue. The unit doesn't turn on at all now. Not even the receiver works. I don't think the unit posted on craigslist has the same problem.

SONY DAV-C990 does not work - only  power/standby button flashes.

  • rmship May 11, 2010

craigslist has this posting, should i bite? The reason why the price low is because there is an issue with the DVD
player, which can be a little touchy with loading DVDs. But it also
takes a digital input (and is a surround sound audio receiver) so you
can easily hook up any DVD player you want and just bypass its internal
DVD player if you want and enjoy the same digital surround sound.

Its better to buy a brand new than to diagnose cause it will be damage again soon.. your money will be useless.

The unit has suffered damage internally and a service tech could diagnose the problem after opening the unit up to see if there is any damage to the main board or its components.

Will not power on, blinking red "power on" light

The power supply might have a shorted/defective diode(s), blown resistors, capacitors if the light is blinking on the front of the LCD.
I repair these power supplies, write to [email protected] if you need further assistance.

Blinking power light

Start by counting the red blinks. This will hopefully tell you what the problem is. Then check back with the number of blinks.

Sony Dav-C770 blinking standby light product will not function

I had the same problem, red blinking light after owning for several years. I decided to replace the capacitor at C914 to see if it would work, and it did. Apparently that capacitor is prone to failure. Since this seems to be a common problem, I created a web page detailing the repair. Hope it is helpful. Repair cost $1.39 + tax.

DVDs play in black and white

Try use connect your dvd player with just RCA(composite video) and see if you get regular color picture. If so,you need to go to the system menu to check the video output and see if it is under R Pr Pb-component video setting? If not,be sure to change it to component video setting AND use component video cable to connect to your TV unless your TV don't have this connection.

Can not load or Eject DVD

Be sure NOT to load any CD+ -R,CD+-RW or DVD+-R,DVD+-RW to this unit.
Try to load up a standard CD see if there is audio first. If so,try a good(not scratches) dvd movie. If you have tried both and still not working. You need this unit to be repair or buy a new one!
