Did you ever get you averatec 6100 laptop fixed i am having the same problem i thought the mobo was bad then i saw your post just wondering if you had any luck with the driver solution

Running the computer with a non-functional fan can damage the unit. Most likely the processor is what is damaged since their temperature get ridiculously high when the fan is not functional. This may be repairable with a mobo / processor replacement at your local computer shop, but after all that you may be better off just buying a new one. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
