Question about Janome Memory Craft 9000 Computerized Sewing Machine

3 Answers

I have a Memory Craft 8000. The computer screen seems fine. I can push all the buttons and the screen changes. However, when I have pushed the zig-zag button(stitch #4), the machine will not make a zig-zag stitch. It just sews a relatively straight stitch. No amount of changing the length and width of stitch will help. Can anyone help?!

it does seem to zig zag a very tiny bit. do you mean that i should actually lower the needle in the needle clamp? i will try this and then look for a tiny alan key if i need to. thanks

The mechanism is worn that makes the needle head move in a zig zag fashion ,need to be taken to a repair man to have the worn parts renewed

Does the needle alternate position in a zigzag motion? If it does then the problem might be your timing. In order to fix it you would have to set the timing on the hook and needle. If the needle bar does not move in a zigzag motion then your zigzag settings are off or the mechanism is faulty.
Initially try putting the needle down a little (like 1mm) either at the needle end (temporary) or loosen off the post (you might need tiny alan key?) and let it go down a tiny bit - be careful to mark original spot before loosening off

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation

Try to recalibrate the machine.

With the machine off Hold down the three buttons that are on the front of the machine(start/stop.reverse and auto lock). While the buttons are depressed turn the machine on. A box with the sign + will come up on the screen under it you will see another + that is the one you touch. Then several more + come up.
Just touch each one as they appear. Then the message test complete will come up. Turn off machine and wait at least 5 seconds. Then you can turn the machine back on and hopefully fixes your problem. It checks for errors and fixes them.

My Janome memory craft 8000 will only sew backwards and the screen shows step motor error. the machine is 19 years old. Is this fixable?

step motor error may mean the embroidery arm is out of position gently push it back home towards the machine and see if this helps. If the mother board is gone, they will not be able to replace it as its so old, but you may be able to get an 8000 or 9000 on ebayso you can still use your discs if you don't want to get a new machine
