Was using kenmore whispertone stopped suddenly disconnected brush unit will not switch on ????

Most likely the belt needs to be replaced. Clean hair and string from brush every time you use it to prolong the life of the belt.be replacing the belt.

Your belt is probably stretched, replace it. Also check to be sure nothing is lodged in the brushes

Be sure that there are no fibers wound around the roller or lodged in the wheel well of the brush roller. That is usually the cause of a brush roller not rotating. You might need to use scissors to clip the fibers and then pull them from the roller. The fibers might range from human and pet hair to carpet fibers, threads, string, yarn, embroidery floss. They wind around the roller and eventually "tighten up" so that the rotator will not move. I have found that, depending on my current craft project, I may have quilting thread, knitting yarn, embroidery floss, or other such goodies wrapped around the roller. When our daughters were at home we would have long, beautiful blonde hair tangled in the roller. I hope this helps.

If you push inwards on each side of the light cover on top you can remove it. With the light cover removed remove the (2) access screws. Now you will be able lift of the entire top cover from the base. You will then see the belt and roller brush, remove the old belt and replace with a new one. check the drum. Hair will rap around the axxel and stop the brush from turning. Cut this hair with a razor and place a small drop of oil on the end of the axel.

your brush roller isn't turning unplug the vacuum and see if you can turn the brush roller and also notice if it turns freely or is it stiff,take the roller out and remove strings,carpet strands and hair.if you can pull the ends off clean the ends good and maybe add just a little drop of machine oil on the bearing on the inside the roller where the bearings are.clean the motor shaft.there is probably old burnt rubber on the motor shaft.you can use a pice of emery cloth ,clean it till you see the polished finish .but i would say your problem is in the brush roller and the motor shaft.i hope i was some help to you.can you please leave some feedback

Another potential problem for the increase in difficulty in turning the beater bar (drum) could stem from extremely dirty bearings, located at each end of the beater bar. I've seen hair knotted up to the point it chokes the bar and significantly reduces its ability tpo turn.

find a used one at a vac repair shop, its just worn out

Kenmore Whispertone Model 26512690 PowerMate Brush motor does not run. The machine has no suction coming from the Power Mate Brush. However, I do have power in the main machine.

The cover over the light, push in on the sides to release the tabs, then remove 2 screws. Using a screw driver, put it in the slot, one on each side, from the bottom, pry up to release the tabs, cover will come off and you can get to the belt and brush roll.
