I have had my hp pavilion for approx 2 years and used my dvd/cd-rw lightscribe drive probably only 5 times. Now it doesn't open. The light comes on briefly when booting up. It also comes on when you use a paperclip to open the drive. But other than that it doesn't do anything. Is it garbage, or can it be fixed?
Solution depend on you ....
If you are not scare of openinng your computer and taking out the dvd you can easly fix him....
If you use him for two years only 5 times there is good chance that you can fix him
1. Get a compresed air (Airduster) and go on the edges where is door try this couple of times in the same time keep presing the open button .... if that not work then
2. Use some thin metal and go over the edges be very carefull keep presing the open buton ....
3. If all of above is not working the get the dvd out of the casing and very carefull open him be very carefull when you doing this and make sure that your computer is unppluged from AC
If you are carefull enough you can fix your dvd if not in worst scenario you will learn something new ....
Dude believe me computers are not rocket scince and just do it ...you can learn on that way a lot of thing and if you suceed in fixing it you will enjoy..
