How do I activate the date and time function?
If you are trying to get the date/time displayed in your images, you need to set the recording size (L, M1, M2, M3, S, Postcard) to Postcard. You also need to turn the Date Stamp on in the Recording Menu (Use the Menu button, select the recording tab -- silhouette of a camera, and scroll down to Date Stamp).
There is a button cell battery "CR1220" which needs to be changed. Check the solution on www.cannon.com for instructions

I have set the date/time stamp several times. It will work for several days and then is gone. I changed the battery for the date/time function and it still will not stay set to the correct date and time-HELP
My problem is the opposite. How do I get rid of date and time on my photos? I want to view them on TV, but without the information. There is nothing in the information pack. There must be a way but I cant find it.
Also will this show up on photo prints? I hope not I have about 800 shots!
The date will not stay set. Some times it will set for a few on off cycles, but then you turn it on and its back to zero looking to be set.
Each time I turn on the power to the camera it asks for time & date info to be entered. I enter it & it retains it until the camera is powered off, but next time the camera is turned on, the info needs to be re-entered.
We have the canon A720 and every time we turn it on we have to set date & time I put in new battery CR1220 and after shutting down the camera it does not hold the time & date. My son has the same camera so I tryed his battery in my camera and now they won't hold the date & time
