It is most likely a burned polarizing filter. There is a polarizing filter on the blue light channel and another on the red channel. When black, or other dark colours are displayed, the red polarizing filter is supposed to block ALL of the red light being projecter. If the filter is burned, some light slips through and creates a red tinge on the projected image. If the red tinge only appears on dark images, but is absent when the images is completely white, a damaged filter is likely the problem.

Seems its hard to buy them. Best bet is probably buying a broken projector from ebay and stealing the filters out of it.

Red dots on dark back ground screen

for this symptom (over diffusion) the voltage for Vsetup has to be decreased, or for opposite (under diffusion) has to be increased. These would be on your sustain board Y. Make very SMALL adjustment, as this can be very touchy potentiometer. There is a sticker on back of panel that will have all the voltages for Vs, Va, Ve, Vscan; these are very important, have to be spot on.

Red spot on LCD

Hi,
1) That red spot means that a pixel is stuck, actually it's very common on LCDs.
2 and 3) It usually occurs for a manufacturing issue.
4) The most of the time it doesn't mean that the whole screen is going to fail, but in my case I would take advantage of the warranty if the laptop is brand new and the warranty is still there.
Good Luck!!!

Very large red spot when I have no picture on the screen

yes, you probably have a bad crt, or color wheel that also would need to be replaced. You can try resetting the lamp hours, Actually, I BET YOU HAVE A BAD BALLAST

SCREEN WILL NOT COME ON

Could be a few things. Bad bulb? Just like anything, some are just not made correctly. Could be the ballast that powers the light, or you may have a component on any board that is failing causing it to go into a protection mode.
