First, go and call linksys's technical support. TO do it urself, go to port range forwarding, and enter the information necessary. I would call them though.

My laptop and my iphone indicate that my wireless-g broadband router is putting out a wireless signal; but neither accessory works on the network, even though the bars are entirely full on the devices.

The bars on your laptop or iPhone means that you are connected to the router! Not necessarily to internet. Your internet depends on ISP Internet service provider and modem which connected to your router. To check if you have active internet connection connect your laptop directly to modem provided by your ISP with ethernet cable and try to open a internet browser IE or Safari or Chrome or Firefox and open a webpage! If you are able to connect internet by this mean you have internet connection active. Now disconnect your lap top from modem and connect modem to your Linksys router using WAN port of LINKSYS! Its good to power off and power on (power cycle) once on modem and router to make it work!
good luck!

We had a storm Monday night. I have ATT internet and a Linksys WRT54G Router. Called Att and they got me back online, but if I try to use the router I can't get online. Not sure if there are some settings...

1. Try connecting using an Ethernet cable.

2. Reset the router and try connecting again

3. Open an internet browser, in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 and see if it connects

4. If you cannot connect to the router, try a different Ethernet port in the router.

5. If you can connect to the router, look for a "restore factory settings" button

6. Reset your router's password and connect to the internet

MY LINKSYS WRT54G WONT READ MY COMPUTERS INTERNET CONNECTION

Ok to start the yellow ethernet port should be connected straight to the Linksys router in the ethernet in port. Then you connect the cmputer to one of the other the 4 ports on the back of the wireless router. wala you shouldn't have any more trouble after that.

Playing WoW behind a router requires you to open ports for that game/application. It's quite a task but you can use this link as a reference:

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT54G/World_of_Warcraft.htm

It shows a step-by-step instructions on what to do and even has a screenshot of your router.

I hope I was able to help you.

Linksys router wrt54g

To connect your computer to the router, all you should need to do is to connect the cables in one of the numbered ports on the router and then reboot your computer so that it pulls an IP address from the router.

Satelite Internet service vareis greatly from the normal setup required of cable or DSL providers, so perhaps you should contact your internet providers support technicians as those calls are free.

As for the gaming ports; in the menu of your router, you will find the port forwarding option available. Simply enter the ports you use to play those games with and you will be able to open them up for better game playing. Test it a few times to make sure you have the settings right, but it is normally fairly simple and understandable even if you haven't read the manual before.

Wireless conectivity

I had the same problem with this model. I was trying everything including resetting the Linksys to a factory default and loading latest firmware, nothing helped. I had to replace the Linksys to fix the problem. I think your radio on the Linksys is not working even you have a signal showing on your laptop.

Cant open a port

Open up internet explorer and type:

192.168.1.1 into address bar and press enter.

A login box should appear.

If you haven't changed the password, the default should be

User name - leave blank
Password - admin

Once onto router home page, click on 'Application and Gaming' tab.

Name the port (whatever you are using it for)
Pick the range (if one port, eg 20000 to 20000)
Select both protocol
Enter the ipaddress of your computer (find this by going to Run -> type 'cmd' and press enter -> type 'ipconfig' and press enter ->then you should see your ip starting 192.168.1.???
Enter this address into the Linksys page and then press 'Save' at the bottom.

Port should now be open.
