Unless you have a genuine copy of W7 already, I'd recommend going to W8.1 , as it has now stabilised and will be supported for much longer than W7. However your hardware would need to be good enough. From XP there is no automated way to check this, instead
Well, win xp is absolutly more fun as OS then win 2000:)
To upgrade to win xp will be no problem since Toshiba have drivers for ir. To upgrade to VISTA will...or can give you problem since there arent any drivers for that Tecra S1.
From the description, the laptop will only support SP2 the only suggestion I can offer is format the hard drive and reload your original disc to get the front controls back.
Hello
I am also using win 7 home premium. With microsoft security essentials.
There could be a few reasons why its not working for you.
1 If you have another anti virus program it must be completely uninstalled. 2 You downloaded win 7 32 bit, and not win 7 64 bit version. 3 Download corrupt.un install essentials and re download and install.
Just "click" on the "Windows Genuine Advantage" window that you're seeing, to get instructions on how to "get genuine". Have your credit-card ready. Microsoft will send you software that upgrades your "non-genuine" software.
One word DRIVERS. This is ya whole problem... simply Win 7 doesn't have the correct drivers for your PC. Unless ya have the correct drivers ya gonna always have problems. Find suitable drivers for everyone of your devices and store in a Directory, when you install, then, ya will have the correct drivers and hopefully Win 7 will install fine. Remember also Drivers can be installed in "Computability Mode" for XP SP2. Otherwise stick with Vista?
Get the SP2 back since you have worked with that well. If the win Xp still suggest for updgrade to Sp3 express you can ignore it anyway. Just click cancell to any install command from the XP SP3 xpress. Hope it might help you.
