LCD Philips 26pf8946 after about 45mins right hand 1/3rd picture not viewable

After watching TV for about 45 mins right hand 1/3rd of screen breaks up and forms like a 'curtain' in either coloured stripes or black obscuring the picture. Rest of picture and sound is fine. If left overnight (to cool down I guess?) it comes on again in full screen for nearly another hour before repeating. Set just over 3 years old (warranty just expired!) Do you reckon its worth fixing? Any idea of cost. Is it possibly a 'board' I could replace myself? Thanks for any help

We have the Philips 23'' (1A0447021909). After about 20-30 minutes a vertical stripe appears just off centre and to the right of the screen - sort of ribbon/curtain like and sometimes goes solid black - sometimes it can take hours for it to return to normal (but then only for a few minutes), and other times it continues. Switching the unit off and then on again does not resolve the issue. The rest of the picture is fine. It's on all the channels. The unit is also only 3 years old. We also thought it could've been a heat issue? What about dead pixels? Thanks for your time!!

Hi Darnez,
It sound like to me that one of the boards that power the bad side of the screen is getting hot and quitting. The boards are not too expensive to replace but getting them is generally the big problem. ( At least for our company). The set would be worth tkaing to a local shop and have it looked at, but replacement costs are going down every day it seems.
Good Luck
I hope in some way this has helped

The words "Digital Noise Filter

The words "Digital Noise Filter Off" and "digital Noise Filter On" appear on the top left and right and side of the screen and the words " Auto Visulisation" appear on the bottom of the screen all the time when watching normal T.V.(series 5 lcd) and if we make changes regarding in setting in picture option in mode.then after 20-30 min againg it displays same message

Sony bravia LCD KDL52 TV: blurred picture with color bands

It is most likely the TCON board (located at the top right against the LCD panel). When these boards have problems, they can act up when cold or warmed up.

You will want to check with any extended warranty company you might have, or Sony's part website for the availability of the TCON board.

The problem here is, sometimes those TCONs are not made available separately and need to be replaced with the screen.

If you have to replace the panel, buy a new tv. You'll save yourself a costly repair.

Picture not centered on my philips 47'' lcd tv

NOTE:(Edited and copied from another thread on Fixya.com, c7carl)

Picture is not centered on monitor leaving a 2 1/2 inch; black border on Philips LCD
By dmorrow54 on Nov 13, 2007
Again, nothing in manual for Philips LCD will correct the fact that the picture in HD-D mode will not center. The picture runs off the monitor on the left (facing the monitor) with a 2 1/2" black border on the right (facing the monitor). Using the format button on the remote of directional arrows will not correct the issue. The wide-screen/ full-screen function with format does nothing. Moving into TV mode, the format function works to display screen in several ways 4:3, 19:2, super-zoom, wide-screen, full-screen. Help, please. posted 3 years ago

I have a Philips 30 inch LCD and solved the problem by using the circular arrow button on the TV remote. Pointing it at the TV and clicking "right" (3 o'clock on the button), the picture moved right. Same thing on for "left". Worked for me.

WOW! It works!! The picture on my Magnavox (aka Philips) 37MF321D had shifted to the right. I figured I had a big repair bill coming up soon. But hey! Just used the TV remote as described by "Guest', and re-centered the picture to the left. Wallah! Thanks ""Guest" whomever you are! Reply

Picture slants right to left

Hope you have fixed this problem by now, if that tv is unserviced, I mean if nobody has ever opened it, it could be a problem with the positioning of your tv, just tilt the tv in different positions and find out the position in which it will show the right fit. If it is serviced, especially yoke is changed, this is rare, it could be because the position of yoke is not aligned properly.
