My dvd player Samsung f1080 was playing absolutely fine. I then went to change the DVD and load it up as usual and the DVD player simply shows as NO DISK. I have tried many different DVD's with no joy. The DVD player is only 3 - 4 months old. Can you advise why this might be????

I have 2 of these units and both suffer with spindle motor problems. With Samsungs track record with Very Bad DVD drives (2xHR734 2xDVD-F1080 + a load more I'm repairing right now) I would go with the spindle motor not spinning the disc up.
call support from manufacturer on how to reset your player,
For instance, on Samsung players after it is powered on you hold in both channel buttons for 10 sec and the player restarts. that fixed mine that had the same problem
You may want to try the methods described here or here.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
Sorry, no suggestion other than don't buy Samsung. That's my conclusion after owning the same model. It worked fine for a while, but now won't load any DVD... usually. Sometimes it will play one, but more often it won't. Mine tries to load ("Loading") for a long time, I hear the DVD spinning, then ultimately the screen displays "This disc cannot be played" or something to that effect.
