Re: need restore dvd for insignia d400a
You can buy it from DELL. They will send it to you for between $20 to $40. Sounds like you have spyware though.
Turn the system restore off. System
restore keeps everything in restore. Meaning......... If you have spyware
or a virus, it will stay in your system. Run Spybot S&D (This program
is free and is better than using msconfig as long as you go through the
settings and change everything to the highest settings.) Then do the same with
Adaware 2008 (sounds stupid to use 2 things for spyware, but one catches what
the other one does not.). I have links on my website
(tandnfamilyelectronics-online.com). These links go directly to the
download so you will not get the run around. You would do good to try a
program called Window Washer. This is a great program that completely
cleans anything in your computer that you do not need. It will not clean
out anything that you have to have. I have used this for years to clean
out my customers computers and have cleaned as much as 3 gigs of trash
out. If you contact me I will give you some tools that I have for free
that will do a great job on your computer. I have them ready to download
and I will give you the link.

You cant. You can download all the drivers from Insignia directly but they do not support the restore/ recovery cd's any longer. I would find a forum that deals only with Insignia and ask some users that might have the same model.
If you have the original Insignia Restore DVD, then all drivers should be available automaticly, but if you are installing from a Microsoft disk, then you'll need a Realtek AC97 audio driver and an Intel 82845G video driver for the onboard chipsets. ( Sorry, you'll have to google for the driver links, Fixya's capcha, required to post links, doesn't seem to work anymore. )
All other hardware varies too much, even from the factory when these computers were new, so you'd have to either track down drivers for those, or hope that Windows can find it while checking for hardware changes and updates.
Go into the BIOS (press F2 during boot) , change the boot order - put the cd first and save the change, put the restore disk in the dvd, reboot, wait for the disk to launch and follow the instructions on the screen.
look i think the bois automatically save the older bois flash on your hard if not don't worry do you remeber where did you get the newer bois from this place you will find another bios with older dates if not on the site of insignia from drivers and support driver download bois update there you will find what you need choose the leatest one so that it update not downgrad the bois fro more or step by step answers conntact me on my mail [email protected] than and i hope your problem be solved
Contact the computer manufacturer. Once they verify system model & serial # on the phone they usually will send a replacement recovery cd at little or no charge. Hope this helps & please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.
Get Windows CD with a proper license and try to install the Windows fresh by reformatting the system. Before that you would need to backup your drivers. For that use http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/ which is a free software. However, the downside of this method is that you won't get any of the additional software that came included with the system, if you did get any.
