I am use a brand new mini DV tape. what should I do?

Hi, forgive me if I'm telling you something you already know but if you shot video in DV mode then the iLink switch on the camera has to be set to DV. If you shot video in SD or HD mode then it must be set to MPEG2.

JVC GR-HD1U power button fell off, where can I get it replaced?

You will need to send it in for repair, no outside repair facility can do this type of repair locally. JVC will most likely offer an exchange and not repair the one you now have.

Just bought a used JVC GR-HD1 camcorder. Bought two new SanDisk SDHC 8GB memory card. When I press "record" I get a "card error" message with both of them. Are they the wrong type of...

This camera can not use an SD card of that size. Just like with any computer intergraded hardware, they have to write parameters of that day into the operating system of the device. They can not just leave it "open ended" to allow any size that might be available in the future. I believe the maximum is 1GB of standard SD speed (as in not the max of ultra speeds). 1GB would be more than enough at the resolution this camera will store still frames (it can not store video on SD cards). This is from personal experience with my own GR-HD1U.

These are impossible to find free on the net but it's not a bad price if you are doing this repair yourself and saving hundreds.

Need to Import videos from the JVC GR-D270U to my PC

I disagree VERY much with Bubbabear64. I tried what he said and I had lots of problems. The computer wouldn't import and sometimes it wouldn't recognize the camera. I installed the 2 programs that came with the camera on the CD, and all of a sudden it worked great. So install the audio driver and the picture importer on the JVC disk that came with your camera.

I cannot copy HD recording to JVC DVHS VCR at HS speed

There may be times when the GR-HD1U playback HD stream thru the 1394 connection is not correctly recognized by the DVHS. Instead, it is recognized as an SD signal stream (only selection of speeds STD or LS3 is possible). To correct this, first perform an i.LINK reset as described in the manual for the VCR (for example, HMDH30000 manual pg 58). Then make sure the GRHD1 menu setting for i.LINK output is set to “SW”, and that the i.LINK switch, located underneath the camera screen, is set to MPEG2. This should allow to copy HD tape to VCR at HS speed.
