Question about Briggs & Stratton Power Products 1539 Pressure Washer

1 Answer

I have a Generac power washer with briggs and stratten 4.5 Horse. I bought it 7 years ago and stored it. I started for the first time today, it started on the first pull and runs great, but doesn't pump syphon cleaning solution from a mixture in bucket. Why not?

I hope you did have it connected to a water line. I'm also assuming the pressure washer function is working ok. Some times the sypon tubing gets clogged from cleaners drying up and building up in tubing and passageway. Does your gun have a cleaning on/off function sometimes by twisting handle? If you have an extra hose, try forcing some water in the tubing while trying to apply solution. If all else fails, clean all solution passageways.

hi marlo. check the fuel level, the air filter, and the spark plug. clean or replace as necessary. then get a can of starter fluid and an assistant. give the air intake area, by the air filter a couple of squirts of starter fluid and then start it up. keep it running by squirting more starter fluid for up to 2 minutes until it will run on it's own. I worked at a tool rental store while attending college and discovered how to extend the life of tools. Really a simple trick that you practice every day. Although your car can travel at a very high rate of speed, you only use about 30 to 40 percent of its power, if however you traveled at 100 mph everywhere that you needed to go, you would greatly shorten its life. Althouth I do believe that you have received good service from your unit, you may have increased the life by using only 60 to 80 percent of its pressure potential for most general work and increase only for stubborn debris.

Go to the Briggs and Stratton website and go to their generators then to Generac. You should be able to track down a link to putting in your model number. (4) PDF manuals show for that model. http://www.generac-portables.com/service_support/owner_manuals/owner_manuals.cfm?rd=1

On a generac pressure washer that works fine.

Oil level in pump and motor OK? Spark plug not fouled? Has it sat for a while - carb dirty? Running (loaded) throttle rpm not high enough?
