Yes the 2 computers are different. Different processors, different memory, different graphics card.To get your ide drive from your hp pavilion a510n to work in your hp pavilion a1330n, you will have to completely re-load the drive when it is installed in the hp pavilion 1330n. Then it will work fine, but you will not be able to use that drive in your hp pavilion a510n. because you will have the same problem but in reverse.

Try setting the jumper on the IDE hard drive to SL (ie slave).

Do I need sata or eide for internal dvd writer on HP a1330n?

This model HP has a SATA disk controller.
You need a SATA DVD writer.
If you are not sure, when you remove the faulty DVD writer, take it with you when you go to purchase a nre DVD writer, make sure the new DVD writer has the same connectors as the faulty DVD writer.

HP HP Pavilion dv2000 no display

1) Please make sure that the HDD IDE cable is plugged in properly on both ends. It is a 40 pin female cord which should be seated on IDE channel 1 on the motherboard.

2) Make sure that all the CD/DVD drives are on IDE 2 or on SATA

3) Make sure taht the Jumper setting on the back of the HDD is set to MASTER

4) Login to bios and make see if you can find the HDD from the IDE drives menu. I am sure you will. From Boot menu select the NATIVE mode that will activate both the SATA and the IDE channels. Select HDD as second boot device.

My hard drive died in my HP pavilion 9795c. I replaced the hard drive, inserted the recovery cd and it says error loading operating system. I used a full version of xp pro with the same result. In setup...

I would suggest you pull the new hard drive out to make sure you've got the jumpers set correctly. Match them up with what you had on the old drive. Master / Slave / CS (cable select)

Once that's corrected you should be able to boot into the recovery cd so long as you set the boot options up correction in the bios.

Let me know if you get stuck.

I recently had a hard drive failure on my HP Pavilion a610n. I decided to replace the IDE drive with an SATA drive. However, the computer will not recognize the SATA drive. I have tried plugging the SATA...

I'm not sure you can insert your OS disk to istall or not, so the solution depends on your being able to do so. It seems to me there's a strong possibility that the BIOS cannot see the drive because that software had basic drivers to recognise the IDE Drive the computer came with.

So, you have to locate the SATA Driver which can be loaded during installation of the OS from either a boot cd or boot floppy. WIndows Setup gives you a chance at the beginning of setup if you watch the progress bar below to press F6 if you need to load a "Third Party or RAID driver" A little further along the setup will stop and prompt you for this driver and you'll need it ready with the exterior CD drive or floppy drive attached with the media in it to load.

It's quite possible this is what you're going to have to do. If this isn't the solution, please don't trash my rating with a thumbs down click. I'm trying to help without complete info.

Hello

Thank you for using
FixYa for your problem

IDE will try to boot first when pluged in, sata will not boot. I think there is a adjustment in the BIOS setting to have the SATA boot first

DVD Rom Drawer

This is a sure sign that the drive is faulty or the ide connection. Try a different ide connector from the other ide cable in your computer if you are able.
