Reverse works fine, but I cannot get it to accept new paper to shred

ok once you have unjammed your shredder try to reduce the thickness of your load and slowing down the paper going thru hope this helps

Most shredders will have a shred and a reverse setting. Is it running in reverse? Has the bin been emptied? With the power off, you can remove the bin and manually pull excess shredded paper jammed in the cutting heads -watch out, sharp metal . Once cleared run single sheets for the first minute to help clear rollers.

Most likely the cutters are still stuffed with paper shreds and needs to be dismantled and cleaned

Could be a faulty component on electronic control printed circuit of Aurora shredder. Reverse bypasses this circuit. If it works in reverse motor is probably fine. You may want to make sure that optical eye in paper pass is clean and also that the lamp indicator for closed paper container functions well. A cause of a shredded gear as suggested in previous answers would probably cause a whining sound but that is not a symptom you described. Take it to a repair lab of a dealer selling new shredders of this brand.

Running the shredder in reverse resulted in shredded paper being pulled up into the slot used to feed paper into the shredder. Some of this shredded paper was blocking the little plastic tab that activates the switch when paper is inserted, so the shredder would no longer start when paper was inserted. I emptied the bin and removed the shredded paper from the feed slot, being careful not to break the plastic "sensor" while removing the paper from under it. The shredder works fine now.

You shredder needs a new shredding head. I'm sorry to say. You will be better off getting a new shredder. I am a senior level shredder technician in CO. I have seen this problem many times and it is an expensive repair. Hope this helps. If you have further questions please respond.

UNPLUG THE MACHINE AND TRY CLEANING THE "EYES" WITH A SOFT CLOTH. IF THAT DOSN'T DO IT YOU MAY HAVE DEFECTIVE EYES OR PCB...YOU CAN CALL ROYAL FOR PARTS AT 1-800-524-0799.

Possible that the actuator which feeds paper in has gotten affected. With the unit UNPLUGGED try looking to see if some paper has gotten wedged in there. If you can disassemble it you might be able to see the problem. Good Luck.
