DR-6000 only accepts CD-R audio or CD-R music discs, not the standard CD-R discs. the difference is that the audio and music discs have the OPC formatted differently and they cost a bit more because they include the royalties fee. Standard CD-R discs won't work in this recorder. The correct discs have compact disc "digital audio" logo on them.

I have The Marantz DR4050 CD Recorder and doesnt let me record ,apear the ERROR OPC, although i use the AUDIO CDS that requires to work with, any help??

Try to use different discs. Older unit may have problem writing high speed discs. Try to find 1x or 2x discs. OPC-optical power calibration. Another possibility that yourlaser is on the way out

DR6000 display "open"

you may need to replace the whole mechanism as i've had quite a few philips and marantz cd recorders with the same mechanism with exactly the same problem. when you press open/close it will display open or close with no sign of life from the player. this turned out to be a faulty laser unit and the PCB which is underneath the mechanism seems to go the same way which i found out later when i replaced the laser unit. the recorder worked for around 5 minutes then the laser started moving erratically but then would work again for 5 minutes after switching it off & on again. i cured the fault by replacing the PCB aswell. hope this helps?

Laser is malfunctioning on my Marantz CD Recordable DR6000

the laser in your DR-6000 is exactly the same as what's in the philips cdr-775 and cd-r-770.
a brand new laser for these are very hard to get hold of and are very expensive. personally i would look out for the above philips models on ebay for less money then take the whole mechanism out and unscrew the servo board and then fit the marantz servo board in place of it and fit it back into your recorder.
i have done this on numerous occasions with no problems.

hope this helps.

Won't record

I've just spoken to a friend who also has one of these older Philips recorders & he has the same problem.

As per my previous post, he fixed his problem by locating old stocks of blanks. New audio discs seem to have been manufactured & optimised for fast writing speeds (up to 32x speed) & this is causing the problem (you can't write at x1 or x2 speed to these new speedy discs).

Trying a few different brands of discs to try out is a whole lot cheaper than a repair. I suggest when you find a brand that works, you stock up on these discs as it seems they will become ever rarer.

Good luck!

how would I go about fixing the lazer problem with this issue of OPC Error when I push record. Sometimes when I use a lens cleaner, it will records some cds and then the error shows up again. Any help, Thanks

What does it do or not do? Does it read the blank properly? If it does and comes up as ready to record you need to check the inputs first and work forward from there. If it comes up with No Disc error or OPC error you may want to buy some different media to see if that solves the problem. We have three of these beasts and they seem to be particular about the media used. Our best luck has been with Memorex and Maxell.
