Speakers on monitor are not making any sounds... how do i check

  • Anonymous Oct 01, 2010

suepen, Have you plugged a set of headphones or "ear-buds" into the green audio out "jack" on the pc to check to see if "audio" signal is at least present at the pc?? If you hear something there, then could be??? possible problem with audio amplifier inside the monitor. Are you sure someone didn't pull out a "audio plug" from the monitor or pc??? 12fixlouie

I am getting no audio at all from computer. Green plug is plugged into green out plug at back of computer but I am still not getting any sound

Make sure that all of your software / drivers are up to date for your sound card. Make sure that your speaker power is plugged in (if it has external power). Also check to make sure that all of your audio sources are un-muted. ( Speaker on taskbar / control panel settings, as well as the sound settings from the program you are using.

I want to make my monitor speakers play sound

Make sure that you have the cable plugged into the monitor and going to the computer if there is one. Some older model monitors operated that way.

Click Start/Control Panel and check your Audio/Sound properties to make sure the drivers are ok. Look for either sound or audio or device manager under the control panel.

Does the sound work for external speakers? Does the sound work for a headphone? Did the computer and monitor come together when you purchased it?

No Sound LGW234T-PF

The LG W2343T does not have speakers. So you can't plug in a 3.5 mm audio patch cable between the computer's line out or headphone jack and the monitor. (Similarly, other devices can't provide sound to the monitor.)

Are you using a desktop or a laptop? If you have a laptop, make sure that the correct audio drivers are loaded for your OS and make sure that the audio isn't muted (look in the lower right on a Windows system in the tray for the speaker icon). On an HP laptop, we had to use the Component Services (Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative tools > Component Services > Services in Windows 7) and stop all audio services and restart them. Then reboot the computer to use the internal speakers at a reasonable volume.

For any unit with external speakers (required for a desktop, optional for a laptop) , connect the speakers to the audio out port (green for 3.5 mm for single connection speakers, see the manual for other speakers) or the headset port. Next make sure that the device drivers are loaded and correct for your sound card (or motherboard audio). (Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager). If your sound isn't active, look at the Sound header. Then choose Manage Audio Devices and the Playback tab to select the desired speaker option. (Again these are for Windows 7).

If you still have no audio, make sure that the speakers have power (USB cord or AC adapter plugged in depending on the speakers). If it is USB powered, try a different port or a powered hub. If you have an AC adapter, check if it is warm. Some speakers have power/volume knobs. So check if they are on (if there is an LED, that is an easy check). If still no audio, try a different audio patch cable, if possible. Otherwise, try different speakers. There may be a damaged wire preventing the speakers from working. Depending on the problem and if your speakers are under warranty, it may be worth fixing or not.

Documentation for the monitor is available here: http://www.lg.com/us/computer-products/monitors/LG-lcd-monitor-W2343T-PF.jsp . Click on the Support tab.

If you want to use a stereo receiver with RCA audio inputs, you'll need an adapter or a 3.5 mm to RCA m/m audio cable.

I hope this helps.

I stopped having sound coming from the speakers. I checked and we are not on mute, and the volume is turned up high.

Make sure all your connections are tight and you have power to your speakers...Then go Start>Control Panel>Sound and Hardware>Sound, after you are in here make sure that your speakers are selected as default device.
Hope this helps, pls rate

The Sound of the Monitor is not working.

Check cable connections between the monitor and the sound card/motherboard output, you could unadventedly dislodged it, check the monitor speaker volume control on the monitor menu. If all else fails connect the headphone input directly to the PC case front or back sound output - much better than via the monitor anyway - shorter pathway makes better sound, last but not least: use a better set of speakers - monitor speakers ****

I have no sound from my monitor speakers

Chances are you need to connect your monitor speakers by way of a USB cable. Look for a USB port on the monitor, connect it up and run the software that came with the PC to install the software to direct your sound to the monitor speakers.

Can not get this monitor to play sound on PC using XP Version 5.1. a driver needed?

there is not a windows xp 5.1 so I am going to take a wild guess and you mean you want 5.1 surround sound

If your computer plays sound through its own speakers normally then you do not need a driver.
I took this from the FAQ
  1. Make sure the audio cable is plugged in to the back of the monitor and in to the Green port in the back of the computer.
  2. Press the Right Arrow button on the monitor itself and set the volume to 10.
  3. Double check your audio settings on your computer and make sure nothing is muted.
This is not one of the better monitors in this price range having only a VGA input but is suitable for most people.

No audio in monitor internal speakers.

Make sure the cable that goes from the monitor to the computers green audio jack is connected.
Check that the monitors speakers are not muted(see if there is an option to do that by pressing certain buttons on the monitor) ,finally make sure the sound on the computer itself is not muted or too low.

NO SOUND!

Hi

Pls check if the audio cable from the monitor is connected to the tower. Make sure it is connected to the green port at the back.
Also check the volume button on the side of the monitor and set it to maximum.

If this doesnt work, then try with another pair of external speakers and check.
