Panasonic lumix dmc fz50

I have attached my camera to our laptop via the supplied usb cable but I canot download the pictures - what can I do ?

FIRST YOU HAVE TO CHECK THAT YOUR PC PICKS UP THE CAMERA AS A EXTERNAL DRIVE IN MY COMPUTER. IF NOT THEN THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE CABLE OR THE JACK ON THE CAMERA. THIS DOES GET DAMAGED IF YOU DO NOT PULL THE CABLE OUT STRAIGHT. DO NOT WIGGLE THE CABLE.

There could be a setting (option) in your camer that changes the storage drive (in your case your SD card) in to a Mass Drive. If so, turn it on. Connect the USB cable to your computer. It will now SEE the SD card. You may copy the images. Reset the option before using the camera. If your files are in RAW format, you may have to use the manufacturer supplied software to convert the images to Jpeg or Tiff.

You haven't to configure the your pc to download the photos, you need only the usb cable, usually provided with the camera; the cd is for the software of the Lumix to view and edit videos or photos, but you can use any other software you want.

You don't need the software. Just get a card reader and download to a folder you create on your desktop.

Were these cards from another camera and now you want to start using them in the Lumix? If so, you must format the card in the Lumix to get it to work. This will erase the card so download any pics first.

Hi. The Panasonic software does not work on Mac.

Here is Panasonic full list of AV software.

Your camera will be automatically detected by the Mac, only instead of using Panasonic Simple Viewer Software (part of Pana Photo Suite), the Mac will ask you if you want to view pictures.

You will also find the camera detected on the Mac as an external disk,

I have an urgent issue of needing to display date Lumix DMC-FZ50

The K or S means the color of camera you have...black or silver. My wife has that camera, there is no way to display the date/time on the pictures themselves, you will have to look at the properties of the image. All images now contain certain data that is hard for the novice to change and might be able to be used in certain courts...good luck, hope it's not too late.

DMC-FZ28 camera memory
First of all, it's faster to use a fast SD to USB adapter with a fast SD card. This beats attaching a (slow) cable to the camera by far. Plus, the method of transfer gets confusing when considring internel memory via cable, on some systems. Skip the cable. I like to get my SD card with matching USB adapter. Both of these need to rated fast. Not just a "Class 6" and not just big but FAST. It saves your time! Repeatedly.

Therefore, switch to "Play" mode. Go down to the "Playback" menu and find "Copy". Copy "in" to the SD icon. That's it.

You might want to clear you internal memory too. But only after your pictures are safe.

When it comes to DSLR, Canon scores better than Panasonic. Have a look at dpreview.com for pic samples from both the cameras.
I own a 350D for the last 2+ years. I havent come across any maintenance costs. However, the urge to upgrade is always there :)
