Heating Element Won't Shut Off

I have a Maytag Quite Series 300, model # MDBH955AWB. The unit is approximately 2 years old. Recently discovered the heating element will not turn off. Whenever power is turned on to the unit, the heating element fires up. Any thoughts on what is causing this problem and how to correct?

Usually when an electric dryer overheats it's because of a defective cycling thermostat or a clogged vent system. Clean any lint from the internal and external ductwork, and/or replace the cycling thermostat

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.

Vent
Heating element
Internal ductwork
Cycling thermostat
Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Cycling thermostat Although this isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork with two screws.

What does my Maytag Bravos 300 quite series electric dryer take so long to dry clothes?

Those sensor bars can become faulty and that is probably the problem. Try cleaning them off with a clean rag. Good Luck!

I have a Maytag Quiet Series 300 dishwasher that is approximately 2 years old. It has been working fine up until now. It has no power at all, no lights etc. I have checked all the power breakers and...

This dishwasher does not have an internal fuse in it unfortunately. Check for power to the dishwasher and if it definitely has 120 volts you need to order and replace the touch control at the top of your door on the dishwasher. This part common fails and cuts power to the entire unit.

Dryer won't heat up.

Hi, To get to the heating element you will need to remove the 2 screws holding the door hinges and the 2 screws across from them. The door can come off or just hange on the hinges. Now remove the front panel pulling it toward you. After the front panle is off. locate the heating element and check it for coninuity. If the heaters checks ok, check the thermostats and make sure they are ok.
I hope this helps you. If I can assist you further, please let me know.

Dryer takes a long time to warm up. It drys in 2 hours and does not shut off automatically. Maytag series 200

To make things properly, voltages to heating element should be tested, but that is a job that must be done by a technician.

Test first the heating fan. If it is not working replace the fan assembly.

Replace the heating element if that does not solve the problem replace the control board.
