Horizontal line in images

I have Canon PowerShot A85.I had bought it about 3 years back.
I see horizontal lines in the images. These lines are very uniform and appear as well drawn like well-designed pattern of horizontal lines on the images..
It is not LCD problem it seems since I see same image full of lines even after I download image to my laptop.
Strangely, there is no issue on clip impages when I do video clip recording using the same camera.
I have tried various camera seetings and all modes to see if one of them works OK.BUt I see horizontal lines on images in all modes.

i am experiencing the same exact thing, and the links from the guy that answered this problem don't sound like the same thing we are experiencing....

Yup, I have the same problem too, and I don't think the CCD thing is the issue because my LCD is fine --- the pictures are just full of lines.

I have the same problem.  I thought it was because I tried to take a picture under cold weather.  I guess I'll follow the advice I read and contact the cannon guys! Thanks. Daniel,

I noticed the same problem, horizontal lines with all modes except the video mode.  I thought it was because I used the A85 under extreme cold weather.  I'll follow the advice I read and contact the cannon guys.  Thanks, Daniel.

Call the 800 number. Originally the A85 wasn't included in the repair recall, but they added it in 2006. I had the same problem. Hope this helps!
