Sorry, but do not have my manual close to hand and I am really stuck and need to use the camera now. My Samsung ES17 has allowed me to take approx 6 photos and now says the memory is full. I have a very small memory card in 32 mbytes. How can I tell if I am using the internal memory or the memory card and how can I switch between the two when I get in a jam?

Take the card out and review the pictures. Put the card back in and review again. Are the pictures different? Most cameras continue to use the internal memory until the pictures on it are erased by formatting in the camera with no memory card inserted. Then, when the card is inserted, the camera writes to the card.

Just press the "Menu" button, and select an icon that looks like a little camera, press the "OK" button. Now you are on photo mode, and you just need to press the Shutter to take your pictures. Enjoy your camera.

My samsung ES17 camera isn't turning on. It turns on and then it says I need to replace the battery. I'm using really expensive good batteries but it won't work.

Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.
