Just over two years old. In the last month, top and bottom halves of screen will cut out for several seconds. Sometimes together for no picture at all, only sound. A couple days ago, some red lines (horizontal in toop 1/6th of the picture and the 5th of six rows in the bottom half) appeared. Also shows up to a lesser degree in the first three columns on the left side of the screen. Salesman at Big Box store said it would probably be cheaper to buy a new set. NOT the preferred option, obviously.
Help!
I had the bottom half of my 4262 black out.. i found the service manual on line for $13 and downloaded it .. it has a trouble shoting section that tells what card to change for certain problems. i ordered a replacement card from www.partstore.com for $87.. replace the card myself in about 15 minutes.. it was almost like changing out a computer part.. no big deal.. the lower half out is caused by the BN96-02216A card.. was easy.. 4 connectors and 1 screw and the card slides off 2 other connectors..

Hi: We had this problem under warranty, and tech installed the following to solve it: Parts BN96-02033A, BN96-02034A and BN96-02216A. This solved the problem for 2 years. I now have the upper half going black now and then for 2 to 3 seconds. I am ordering these parts from www.partstore.com and will just plug them in. Better than a new tv.

I have a similar problem with my samsung HP-R4252. I purchased it about 2 years ago. I serviced it once, about one month after I purchased it. At that time, it was covered by the manufacturer's warranty. They came to my house and replaced the main board. I did not extend the warranty since I thought the problem had been fixed. After 2 years, now I have similar problem again! The picture came on and off, and now I see lots of red lines all over the screen. I called the local service shop that samsung pointed to, and they are asking $150 for inspection only. They never told me the cost estimate but I am sure the actual repair cost would be way over $500, and I think it is better to buy a new one. So frustrating..

Purchased in 2005 just over two years old. In the last month, the unit began flickering now the top and bottom halves of screen will cut out for several seconds vertical red dots dominate the screen and solid black patch along the bottom left of the screen. I called the tech line and was informed it is out of warranty I knew this however I am looking for a fix. Not a satisfied consumer it breaks down to $50.00 to operate for every month it worked. I also was referred to the local certified Samsung tech. The closest one is in Garden Grove 100 miles away. So I will be $150.00 service call then I am guessing a $600 dollar plus repair. I will be $750.00 more into it with no guarantee for the work. I guess Samsung has there money rest assured the replacement will not be a Samsung. **** manufacturer.

I purchased the HP-R4252 two and 1/2 years ago and have the same problem with half the picture blacking out and rend lines. Called a TV tech and he stated it is the plasma screen and not worth fixing.
same problem, except mine last few seconds.
i guess its not worth while fixing?
