Media Center Receiver Service has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Keep getting the above message after I thought I uninstalled Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 through Add/remove programs. (My CD/DVD writer quit working so I was using an old portable CD RW drive.) It looks like the Roxio driver failed to completely uninstall and corrupted my other drivers. It shows a Code 37(windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware) in the Device Manager troubleshoolter for both drivers/drives.
The CD/DVD rom drive is IDE-DVD DROM6216. The CD/DVDRW drive is a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552L. What do I do now to get either one to work?
yes. i also keep getting this messg. i have tried sending micorsoft the information many many times to no avail?
My media center does not work now, no TV because it says...i dont have a tuner installed, but i do.

Try going into Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, click on the Media Center software, if listed, and see if it gives a choice to Change and/or Repair. You'll probably need your Windows CD if/when it prompts for it.
Go to Start>Run> Type in msconfig then go to the startup tab at the top and uncheck anything that says media center. Then go to the services tab and uncheck anything in there that says media center then let it restart your computer.
Look carefully at your disk and check for any scratches or fingerprints. There are ways to clean scratches to make a CD work again, using creamy peanut butter and a soft napkin or cloth, for example (but be sure to not follow the circular 'grooves'---wipe from center to edge or vice versa, and remove all traces of peanut butter before reinserting it into your computer!)
Hi,
I'm not sure what the problem is. Does it happen regularly? If it is regular make a note of any actions you take before the error occurs.
Check to see whether you have the latest updates for your software.
Also check on line to see whether any other uses have a similar problem check on any forums...
Roxio may have their own forums or be able to assist with your query.
Failing this you may solve this by uninstalling the software and reinstall it this may do the trick.
ROXIO Multi Media Tray Application Module Has Encountered a problem and needs to close.
This Means ROXIO Creator 10 Try Application Encountered an error.
And since it happens while burning a disc
You should
1. Uninstall ROXIO Creator 10 , and reinstall it to make sure nothing is corupted.
2. If you still get the same problem it's time to check your intire system for errors.
This can mean you will need to take trouble shooting steps.
1. Use another burning program to see if you can burn without errors.
2. if you can burn fine with another burning program like NERO then chances are
you have an incompatability with ROXIO Creator 10 and should consult the documentation
to see if your drive is actually supported by it.
Do these things weed hopper and all will be well with you.
Ok. What I am going to suggest may seem like a daunting task but if you are careful and do only what I suggest you should be ok. The first thing you are going to have to do is manually make a change to the Windows registry to fix the permissions.
1. Fix registry permissions
a. Click on "Start" choose "Run", then type "regedit" and click "OK".
b. In the Registry Editor, click on the "+" next to "HKEY_Local_Machine".
c. Now click on the "+" next to "Software".
d. Right-click on the key (folder) called "Roxio" and choose "Permissions".
e. Make sure that "Administrators" and "System" have checkmarks for "Full Control" - "Allow".
f. If you had to add those checkmarks, click on "Apply".
g. Click on "Advanced".
h. Put a checkmark in "Replace permission entries on all child objects with the entries shown here that apply to child objects".
i. Click "OK".
j. Click "OK" again.
k. Now close the Registry Editor
Next, you will have to uninstall the Roxio software.
1. Remove Roxio Easy Media Creator 7
a. Go to Start--->Settings--->Control Panel--->Add/Remove Programs
b. Select Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 and select "Remove"
c. Once the uninstall is complete, reboot the computer.
2. Reinstall Roxio Easy Media Creator 7
a. Insert the CD and install as you did before and then reboot.
If you have any issues uninstalling the Roxio, go to the following link to download the Microsoft Cleanup Utility...
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Run the utility after the unistallation attempt and then reboot and reinstall Roxio.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
You may need service pack 2, but if you have; then the software may not be compatable with SP2 and may need you to visit the Roxio website for any patches or fixes.
There are other programmes you can download for free from the internet to try instead, although, i would recommend Nero 6 or 7.
Also ensure you have enough system memory as these programmes take up usage memory, then require more to manipulate and burn videos etc.
